Hi Oliver

Unfortunately Corel do not monitor this forum, but I will try to contact them to read this post.
You may be best in contacting them via Corel Support as you will have free support for a short while.
Other than that they have a Facebook account, by all accounts they do reply to your questions there.

So yes we are all having similar problems using your video 1920 x 1440.

In fact there are not many templates using 1920 x 1440, I am sure there are more options with earlier versions.

Some templates allow us to “User Define “ the frame size, again this option is limited.

Try setting the project properties to use AVI Xvid, I would have suggested Div X but that option is no longer available.

Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 1920 x 1440, 50 fps
Frame-based
Xvid MPEG-4 Codec
Interleave audio for every 15 frames
PCM, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

Not sure what quality that creates, but maybe a workround?

Hi Ken,

my goal was to use the tool's "SmartRender" feature to just cut quickly, no need to rerender all the files...

I don't think there is free support with the trial? I tried to contact support before I found the forum.

It seems I need to look for another tool...

Thanks,
- Oliver

Hi

A little bit more progress,
Re-naming the clip to use the extension MOV as “GoPro1440P48.mov” seem to allow Video Studio to read the properties, I assume correctly.
The compression showing as GoPro AVC Encoder.

I am also able to render this clip without receiving the error message.
Just need to find the right option, clearly Mpeg 4 is not gonna be one of those, but QuickTime Mov seem to work?

QuickTime Movie Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1440, 50 fps
Frame-based
MPEG 4 Visual
100% Quality, 15 Key Frame Rate
None, 8.000 KHz, 8 bits, Stereo

Oliver

Did the camera come with software? If so have you installed the software, that may install the correct codecs to your pc.
View the AVI options and QuickTime options, maybe a GoPro codec is sitting there?

How did you manage to get it to work with a file Lata?
I've renamed mine as a MOV, I know I have the codec installed, but can in no way get it to save.
I tried all of the options in mp4, looked everywhere else to see if I can find anything.
No joy for me.

Hi,

I'm sure I have all the codecs etc. I can import the files to VideoStudio and render them just fine to 1920x1080P. I just can't render them in the nativ resolution!

I hope for a fix in the first servicepack ;)

Hi Graham

First I made a copy of the file.
Using Windows Explorer I simply re-named the file GoPro1440P48.mp4 to use Mov as the extension.

I can add to the timeline but cannot match project properties.
Share Create Video File –Same as First clip, not available.
But can render to same as project properties and any other template without crashes.

This is how VS reads the properties
X7 mpeg4 to mov.jpg

If you look somewhere on the first page of this thread, I suggested the possibility of a change to .mov. The GoPro cameras don't come with an installation disc, and their "normal" format video requires no special codecs in VS or other editing packages. However, as I said in that thread, GoPro have their own editing package called Studio, and when used on GoPro footage, outputs as .mov. Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten around to installing Studio on this computer, so haven't had the opportunity to test this myself. And today is looking difficulty as I have to drive a friend to Wellington hospital 100 km away...

EDIT:
I am also interested in the following set of Properties which you posted above. They are different from the last image you posted of the .mov Properties as seen in VS. But where did the first set come from? I ask since the 50 fps is different from the original frame rate, and would be even more different if smeagle used NTSC settings of 60 fps.
QuickTime Movie Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1440, 50 fps
Frame-based
MPEG 4 Visual
100% Quality, 15 Key Frame Rate
None, 8.000 KHz, 8 bits, Stereo

Hi ken
Those properties are from a template created in video studio, just a sample of what could be used to convert thee original video

If you install Studio that my install other codecs, and may indeed provide 1920 x1441.

Even so Corel need to address the lack of templates used in X7
Not only mpeg4, mov, but also divX. Allowing a manual means of setting/creating templates

Hi,

I cannot use the official support with my trial...

Would be great if someone still with free support would tell them about that problem?

Thanks,

Am I right in thinking you duplicated the file, by resaving it using it's original properties?
I've tried that with my file and it didn't work.
I can save my file to any of the templates provided, but this isn't what is required :(

Graham

I was unable to do anything with the original file GoPro1440P48.mp4
I could add to timeline but could not render to any format.
By renaming the file to use Mov extension instead of MP4 allowed me to render the clip to any format available in Video Studio

But not same as first clip. I cannot replicate the original files properties as a template.
I do not have GoPro Codec installed on my pc.

I can render to any other Mov format which allows for User Defined frame sizes.

Very good,

I just wanted to make sure Corel is made aware about this! I don't think we can fix it on our own...

Thanks!

I've already sent an email off to Yvonne, but not heard anything back in the last 3 days.
Lata, that's my problem, I can do anything with the file in any other format, but cannot replicate the format it is, which is what I need to do, or very close.
The smallest file I could make was 143MB, but I'm working with a 3.6MB file and need it to be that sort of size when I'm done.

It's not just VS though, I can't get anywhere with my editor of choice Edius, either. I started with Edius and came to VS thinking of the same as first clip attribute it has and then when it didn't work found this thread on the same day :)
