I'm new to rotopen VSx6. I did try to put the map in the overlay track so it would be on top of the main video. This caused the route line to move. When I put the map in the video track it works fine. I would also like to make a different icon (snowmobile) to use instead of the ones that it came with. I have not figured out how to do that yet, or overlay the map on top of the main track. Any help would be nice.
Thanks

Re: RotoPen Observations
Hi skip2112
I assume you are working with HD video 1920 x 1080
Make sure your project properties are set to that size, preferably using the same properties as your video file.
Your Map image should be the same aspect ratio, minimum size 1920 x 1080, can be larger --- use an image editor to crop the image to 16:9 ratio.
I don’t use RotoPen that much and not sure if/how to create your own symbol, I will have a look around the program. I am sure others will have suggestions.

Re: RotoPen Observations
You need to create a tif file with a transparent background, for size, that may be trial and error, but with Route Generator (in my opinion superior to Rotopen) 50x50 pixels for vehicles would be about right, then you just import them via the Traveler Symbol by clicking on Load Imagelata wrote:I don’t use RotoPen that much and not sure if/how to create your own symbol, I will have a look around the program. Re: RotoPen Observations
Hi
Well there must be a trick in doing that.
I can create an image having a transparent background that shows ok when adding to the overlay tracks.
Use the same image with RotoPen and I get a white background.
Yep I can fiddle about and apply Chroma Key but that should not be necessary.
RotoPen did not like my Tiff or Bmp at all, PNG and giff worked but with the background.
Robert can you provide the image you created used with RotoPen

Re: RotoPen Observations
Made rotopen work by putting the video in the overlay track and the map in the main track. Not what i wanted, but it worked. Now the rotopen lines are on themap in the right place, with a video of me riding in the corner. Haven't tried to make a new icon yet, maybe later.

Hi
Well I struggled making a suitable symbol image, hopefully Robert will provide a sample that works...

Re: RotoPen Observations
Hi Trevor,
It's a lot easier than you think, using Photoshop, create a png image on a transparent background, the select "Save As" select tif and when the TIFF Options box opens, make sure you have "Save Transparency" ticked then save image. Image can now be imported into RotoPen without background

Re: RotoPen Observations
Hi
Thanks Robert, I thought I was doing that anyway, today it seems to work ok.
Maybe I missed that tick box when saving, although today it shows as ticked by default, probably a senior moment?
Cheers
