Hi
VS X7 64 bit
I cannot render to Constant Data Rate / Mpeg2 DVD
I created a template using constant data rate, after rendering my project Variable has been used.
Same results if I set the project properties to use a constant data rate, rendering same as project properties produces variable.
These are the details of my template:-
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-PAL), 16:9
Video data rate: 8000 kbps “constant”
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
It may well be my pc problem but is anybody able to create a template using the above details and successfully render to a Constant Data Rate VS X7 64 Bit

I just threw a quick project together. Made a new movie template with exactly the same Properties as yours. This of course created a new Personal Profile. I then went to Share > MPEG2 and chose that new Profile. And it rendered perfectly, including with the CBR... Just to be sure, I did it again with another quick project, and again it rendered fine with the CBR.

Re: VS X7 Constant Data Rate for Mpeg2 DVD
Hi Ken
Thanks for testing, guess its my PC, its not the first time our pc’s do different things.
I have reverted to using X6 to get the constant data rate. When that’s complete I will try the constant options again???
Maybe a re-install is on the cards.
Ohh……and still no post reply notifications.

Re: VS X7 Constant Data Rate for Mpeg2 DVD
Hi Ken
Update, I have re-installed X7 64 bit, initial tests showed the Constant re Variable issue behaving itself. But not for long.
Working with standard definition mpeg2, I tried setting the project properties to match, Show Messages….. worked sometimes but not all the time, a little strange as the files are compliant.
I then tried to manually set Project Properties (alt+enter) allowed me to Reset, this option clears the User Defined templates, although the process failed, That’s when I got that dreaded error Improper Argument again.
Earlier I had set Movie Profile Manager creating two user defined templates, one for AVCHD and the other for DVD nothing unusual about them.
I have reset the program and everything seems normal with the exception of the Variable issue, now always there?
Would you mind having a mess about with Mpeg2 DVD templates, simply create a couple of profiles and maybe change the project properties. I don’t have any particular order in which I do things to cause the problem.
As I say it now seems ok, till I try again tomorrow??????
What happened today seems to link the Argument error with the Constant/Variable issue?

Re: VS X7 Constant Data Rate for Mpeg2 DVD
Sorry, Trevor, I did as you asked, and still can't replicate any problem. I set up new Profiles, with different settings -- changing bitrate, UFF, LFF and Frame Based; changing audio between Dolby and LPCM -- the only thing constant being the setting for CBR. And the rendered files all reflect the Properties in the profiles, including the CBR.
