When ever I try and open the help files in psp x6, it tries to open Dreamweaver but Dreamweaver can't open. I get a message saying Dreamweaver stopped working and needs to close. I don't know how to stop psp from trying to access Dreamweaver when ever I want the help files.
I was trying to see if I could change what file types are associated with Dreamweaver but I don't know what file type the help file is.
Perhaps if someone could give me that information, I might be able to stop Dreamweaver from being the default help program.

Re: Help files
When I try to access the Help in PSP X6 I get a strange error message
I never figured out what is happening but it seems to be something to do with html. I use Internet Explorer 11 as my browser.

Re: Help files
@Tadjio, have you tried displaying the help files in compatibility mode in IE?
@sheryl66 - The Help files are a ".htm" extension.

Re: Help files
In XP and Win7, when I go to Help > Help files It goes to the Corel site help files if I am connected to the internet and to a local installation if disconnected. Might be a Win 8 thing. I have Internet Explorer as my default browser.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Re: Help files
It opens my default browser and goes to the Corel website while online. While offline it goes to Internet Explorer.
However, if I set HTM and HTML settings to an editor like Notepad++ then even if I'm online it'll try and open the file inside Notepad++.
So it looks like the file type might be overriding the URL protocol setting. I'd have to actually test that.

LeviFiction, I wouldn't know how to force 'compatibility mode in IE' for a web page opened automatically by PSP.LeviFiction wrote:@Tadjio, have you tried displaying the help files in compatibility mode in IE?

Re: Help files
I have IE 10 on my computer, should move to 11 some day. So I don't know if the option has moved or not.
Hit Alt to bring up the normal menu, under Tools there is a "Compatibility View Settings" option.
In the dialogue box that pops up it'll give you the option to display a certain webpage or URL in compatibility mode. Which is only necessary if the site tries to force IE to render things the old way. If you do it while on the help file page it'll auto-populate the URL into the box. Then just hit the "ADD" button and IE should auto-start that page with compatibility view.
If IE detects that the page should be in compatibility mode there used to be an image of a torn piece of paper in the URL bar. When clicked, that piece of paper would turn blue, indicating compatibility mode is turned on. I have to do that with our MITEL phone system at work.
