audio codec driver error

when rendering an avi file inserted intoo a project get an error message:
"unable to access the audio codec driver".
the clip itself plays with audio without a problem

please advise what is going on and how to fix it.

Since you don't tell us the format of the audio file or the properties of the video file it was attached to, let alone how you put the two together and what else you might be 'rendering' it with, I am not sure anyone will be able to help you...

Sorry,
Here are the details (according to AVIcodec):
File: type AVI, 1 audio stream
Video: DX50 = DivXNetworks Divx5
Audio: 0x2000 - AC3 DVM

I have installed AC3 codec on my computer and the file plays fine in windows media player. Ulead doesn't seem to be able to use it for some reason...
Any thoughts?

Not all versions of UVS support and decode AC3 audio. Only UVS V9 does so out-of-the-box; UVS V8 does it with a plugin available from Ulead. Earlier versions don't support AC3 decoding at all AFAIK.
