Resolving One Issue Creates Another

Post by RobertOZ »

Why do we seem to spend more time trying to resolve problems than actually using the program.
Having had issues with screen capture and finally resolving that problem, see

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=53151

Another issue has appeared
Before I went through the hoops with Corel Support, I could install all my New Blue Packages in the 32 bit version and whilst the thumbnails were blank, all the filters worked correctly. Now, having installed X7 32bit for the umpteen time the New Blue packages no longer appear in FX filters.
All the filters show correctly in C:ProgramFiles(X86)\Corel\CorelVideoStudioX7\vft_plug
Tried both ways when installing, copy and paste and a complete reinstall of New Blue nominating the installation path to X7.
Have tried renaming Folder 17.0 and letting it rebuild but to no avail.

So, back on the roundabout again

I agree Robert. I feel sorry for Corel and us, the customers. Clearly once users try to go beyond a simple install, there can be lots of frustrations. I recently did a search of the Registry to clean up a botched up uninstall and I could not believe the number of entries (my guess is hundreds) all over the Registry. I don't understand how poorly organized the Registry entries are, and how dependent the program is on these Registry entries. I can accept poorly organized Registry entries, what I have a hard time accepting is the lack of robustness of the program to recover when Registry entries are not what is expected. Given this situation, Corel needs to include a robust "CleanRegistry" program for each release.

Have you looked at the registry entries for other programs? It is the same! I recently cleaned up another programs and I had 1000's of registry entries.

I rarely run Registry Cleaners since in many cases they create more trouble than you had before
The problem is the registry system that Microsoft has created and not that of the individual programs.
