Just rename the folder, no more ads.
On my computer (Windows7) the CUH.exe generates this:
CUHexe-No_updates_available.jpg
CUHexe-No_updates_available.jpg (12.11 KiB) Viewed 21193 times
for updates, not promotions.

I have now made a Desktop shortcut to the Messages folder.
Before I launch PSP in the morning I check the folder and delete whatever is in there.
I check a few times a day, as 4 more messages find their way into the folder. I also delete those.
Sometimes the 4 messages are there when I launch PSPX9, sometimes just the 1. This is likely me forgetting to keep checking..
Deleting please-buy-this-we-need-the-money messages is now a daily routine.

Is it beyond the realms of possibility that it does both?

Do what you like, it doesn't bother me, I get no ads.

When I used to get ads I used the function in process explorer to tell me what executable was running it and it said it was CUH.

Still you know best.

Any program that 'assumes' or 'requires' full time internet access will not be on my computers. There are many reason but two that concern me are Security. I'm not risking my work/data base simply to have internet access. I also spend a lot of time on the road or out in the field where internet access is simply not available.

It never ceases to amaze me how some 'city' folks/developers simply don't understand that the whole world is not connected to high speed internet. It simply shows their ignorance or arrogance. Or both.

There are three things you might want to consider doing:

1) If you power down and reboot your PC instead of just putting it in sleep mode, consider adding a batch file in the Startup folder that deletes everything in the ads folder.

2) Instead of starting PSP directly, create a batch file that deletes the contents of the ads folder and then starts PSP.

3) Instead of a desktop link to the Messages folder, create a batch file that deletes the messages and put a link to that.

I have created a daily task that starts a batch file to delete everything from the messages folder.

It does both. Joelle's method is a simple fix, but it does mean that the update check can no longer be run. CUH is actually run as a scheduled task daily. This can be disabled by running "Task Scheduler" (in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Task Scheduler"). The task is listed as "CorelUpdateHelperTaskCore". Simply select the task (in the list under "Task Scheduler Library" and click on "disable" under actions on the right. This will prevent the task from displaying annoying daily upgrade prompts to the next version (and there is always a next version!) but does also prevent automatic updates. To check for updates, click "Help" -> "Check for Updates" in the app when you wish.

None of the fixes in this thread have helped me. I still get the adverts pop up when I close down PSP 9.

This is beginning to really annoy me. I hate the extra step of having to close down an advertisement for a product I don't want, after I close the program I paid full price for, from Corel's website directly. It's a small inconvenience, sure, but it's a quality of Life thing, as far as I am concerned.

Following the procedure should stop the adverts.

renaming cuh and deleteing the task. it should work.

Previous two versions of PSP have had persistent popup issues, to the point I contacted product support about the obvious bug. I was persistent enough that they sent a solution that seemed to work. It's a set of reg keys that did kill the "EVERY SINGLE MORNING ADS THAT POP UP ON MY SCREEN TRYING TO SELL ME SOMETHING" even though I paid full price.

The fact that we get popup ads that are nearly impossible to stop, in spite of have the option to not show these is INDEED turned off, says a lot about a company that still insists on showing these ad.

1) They have no intention of fixing the bug. The bug being that the ads show even when the option to show them is disabled.
2) They gave me instructions how to disable the ads (see 1, above) and that DOESN'T WORK, and they know it does work.
3) I persisted enough, and got them to send reg keys, again. I've had to do this enough times that I know this seems to be the only solution.
4) This is yet again a problem with PSP2018. They have no intention of fixing the bug.

Yes, I will again be filing a bug report. I'll again need to go through steps of supplying screen shots to show the option to show messages is disabled. I'll need to become persistent and will need to a dissatisfied user that won't let up. Eventually, if I'm lucky, they'll send the keys again....including the keys for PSP2018.

I want the auto updates. I don't mind getting a message in the splash screen. I hate hate hate having popups on my desktop every single morning when I log in. This is spamware.
