Hi,
I'm new with PSP. I'm trying to do like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8M4zkoBAgs
At aprox 4:30 min she copies a picture into a layer/selection, but the picture keeps its size. When I try to copy a picture into a selection it fills the whole selection out.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks.
/Bryan

Re: paste into selection
You did notice that the video tutorial is for Photoshop, not PSP, right?
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16

Re: paste into selection
I suspect that your problem is that the image you are trying to paste in is much larger than the area into which you are pasting. In the video she had a background that was 400x200 or something like that. The picture was about 40% of that width. Figure out what the dimension should be in pixels relative to the area into which you are pasting. For the image you are copying, go to Image/resize and enter the pixel dimension with the same pixels/inch as the graphic into which you are pasting. Select copy and then paste.
I tried this and achieved the same result as in the video, somewhat different process but the result is the same.

Re: paste into selection
I didn't watch the whole video just after about 4:30.
In PSP, if you want to copy an entire image to the clipboard you don't have to Select the whole image, just activate it and Edit/Copy or Ctrl+C the image. If the image has a selection only the selection will be copied.
Then you just need to activate the layer above which you want to paste the picture, then Edit/paste as new layer. That will paste the picture in a layer that you can move around with the Move tool or the Pick tool. With the Pick tool you can resize and reshape the picture too. Drag a corner of the marque to preserve aspect ratio. Ctrl- and Shift-drag will change the shape to trapezoid etc.

Re: paste into selection
EDIT: Here is a quick video I threw together to show what I mean.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg6POkTgHQo
I would like to add my own two cents in here.
When she does her "paste into" she's not doing the same thing that PSP does. PSP resizes the data to fill the selected area. In her case she's actually creating a mask based on the current selection and then pasting the image into this layer.
So to replicate this inside of PSP we need to also use a mask created from the selection.
So here's what you do.
Before you create a selection from the curve.
1) Paste the image you want to be inside the curve as its own layer.
2) Create a selection in the shape of the curve.
3) Select the image layer
4) From the Layer menu or from the Layers palette create a new mask layer using the "Show Selection" option.
What this will do is it will create a layer group with your image and the mask. And you'll get the same kind of effect shown in this video.
