Re: VS X7 Reviews
"Expert reviews" are clearly Sony fans. Nothing wring with this UNLESS you criticise Sony and then they have a hissy fit.
I base this on experience on another Forum where I am criticised for quoting Corel instead of Sony all the time.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: VS X7 Reviews
Much of the first review, nevertheless, equates to a lot of our findings during beta testing and in subsequent user experience here. One of the things I found a bit odd, though, related to 64 bit rendering times. The review's findings are positive in this regard, and rather more so than our own findings where the 32 bit version gives significantly better rendering times than the 64 bit version (see thread at http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 44#p285544 ):
The other thing about that review which I found misleading was this:

It might have been useful if they had described the project(s) on which they made such gains....We also saw render times fall by up to 48 per cent, although our test results varied widely from project to project.
The other thing about that review which I found misleading was this:
In fact one of the most significant changes in X7 to me is precisely the option in Preferences > General to match project properties to the first video clip, including for the first time if the first clip is High Definition. They seemed to have missed this point entirely! There's a tick-box that lets you create a video matches the project settings. This should have made exports much easier, but VideoStudio makes no effort to match project settings to the imported footage, and the controls to do it manually are hidden away.

Re: VS X7 Reviews
Sony has some features that are better than VS such as their chroma key and color correction. I use it for specific issues when I have a problem in VS. VS is a good program that I use for most of my work. However, specialty software such as Xara, and ColorDirector, I use for certain situations. Sony Platinium is an onerous program with a long learning curve. Lacking a storyboard, moving around it with many clips is a tedious affair. VS is a good all around product and with improvement, I hope, will continue to grow.
