How do I add templates to FastFlick

Post by The_Bloodman »

This seems to be a quick and very easy way to make a slide show. However, the full version I have purchased only affords me 4 choices of templates to choose from. Is there anyway to inport from VS7 or to create/ add new templates?
Thanks.

I have to be honest and say I have no idea, though I will ask Corel. FastFlick is something I have never used and am unlikely ever to use. I just opened it, however, and I appear to have by default 15 templates, not the 4 you have. Have you loaded any extra Content folder which may have come with your original installation file? (I have X7 Ultimate which came with two files, but I don't know if the 'normal' version comes with one file or two...)

I've also done a quick search of my computer and I can't even locate where the FastFlick files are stored...

Like Ken I have 15 - and I don't actually remember downloading any extras.

Is "All Themes" showing in the drop down at the very top of the right hand pane ?

As I said, I got in touch with Corel and got the following answer, at least as to where the FastFlick templates are located:
All FastFlick templates are in C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X7\EditingStyle\InstantProject Each folder represents one template.
I imagine the 32 bit version should be in the same folder in Program Files (x86)...

I have just loaded one of the instant templates from Documents\Corel Video Studio Pro\VSP Templates. When I next loaded FastFlick, the new template showed up as one of the choices. So there's the answer.

Mind you, I have no real idea how to get rid of all the 'Video Studio' titles in the various templates in the FastFlick series, apart from possibly opening in the main VS editing unit and changing them there... As I said above, I have no real intention of using FastFlick because I think I can achieve a better result in the main VS editor... (EDIT: I tried opening a couple of the FastFlick templates in the full VS, but got the message each time that they were in use with another program. Neither were ones which I had tried opening in FastClick...)

Moreover, I have been trying to add photos to the new template, and it causes the whole FastFlick program to freeze. I've tried it with a couple of the Instant Templates. Note that the only ones that will even open in FastFlick are ones which have a .vsp file in them. The majority don't -- having a .vpt files instead. With those, FastFlick won't even open, returning an error message saying it can't open an empty document.

I'll report this back to Corel as well, as seek further advice.

You can edit titles etc. inside the Fastflick programme by clicking on the 'T' at the bottom left half of the programme screen , under the right corner of the preview screen - you need to actually have the title onscreen to edit it - that is the 'scrubber' must be over the purple blocks - see below.

Thanks Brian. I have been playing around with that. It works fine, though I am having trouble getting rid of that 'Video Studio' which appears below 'Brian's Movie' (or my own title). It doesn't seem to want to be deleted in full. I can reduce it to one letter, but not get rid of it totally... You have to be careful also to drag the slider slowly through the whole project as some of those titles get repeated and if you miss one, the rendered video looks silly and has to be redone.

I have also done the editing by switching over to the main VS program, which I still find much easier to edit in. The small 'Video Studio' can be totally removed by a simple Delete.

I have to add that rendering the project in the main editor took about one quarter the time taken to render the same project in FastFlick to the same output format (HD mp4).

I just selected it (white blobs all round) and hit delete - and it vanished

don't see how to get it back though - no undo or add new title

OK. I switched to the template you used. And yes, I could remove the small Video Studio. But then I couldn't remove the big title!! So one way or another, it seems you need to have a title... But you can at least change the transparency to 100 and that seems to make it disappear... But it still strikes me as being easier to simply delete the title in the main Editor...

I might just add that Corel has now indicated that they are considering how to make the Instant Templates used in the main editor also usable in FastFlick. We'll report back if and when that happens.

No problem with being hijacked. I tried uninnstalling and then re-installing and still came up with only 4 templates in the program file. They're labeled V-01,V-02,V-51 and V-52. The choices there are limited. Following your conversations, I have located other .VSP files and I was able to drop them into the folder and have them open in FastFlick and work correctly. I got them from other instant projects that I had previously downloaded. That being said, I can select those that I like to drop in and use. If I could find out what the missing 11 files are, perhaps I can get them from Corel. I do appreciate your assistance. Thank you gentlemen.

FWIW, the ones you are missing are labelled T1 - T10.

When you drop in the Instant Projects from VS, does your FastFlick continue to work. When I do so and press the stage 2 button, FF stops working and crashes each and every time with each and every template I tried transferring...

Hi

This image shows what I see as options when viewing the Instant Projects library.
What do you see in your list, I would expect most, the last entry for graffiti depends whether you have installed graffiti.
The clips you see V-01 etc are within the General library page.

The second image shows the Instant Projects that should be available when using FastFlick.

If you do not see these try resetting the program by re-naming the folder 17.0 to 17.0 copy, a new folder will be created when re-starting Video Studio.

I am not sure what you are suggesting, Trevor. Yes, I have the same thumbnails in my main X7 interface under both General and Instant Projects. But in FastFlick, I don't just have the T01 - T10 templates as you suggest, but also the five in General. And these are all of course listed in Editing Style > Instant Projects. See the attached image -- ignore the first one listed (FF_Test01) as that is just something I have been playing around with.
