Hepzibuh22, please don't be rude with the messages you post. These people trying to help you are not connected with Ulead and are just regular users kind enough to extend a helping hand. Show some appreciation.

I understand your frustration, having a software that does not work as advertised. But you can't expect an instant solution. There are a lot of possible causes of your problem. Not everybody has this problem you know. If so then Ulead should be out of business by now.

Nobody in this forum has made a thorough inspection of your pc and knows your computer history... what you've done, the software you've installed or uninstalled or any possible corrupt files or hardware problems you might have, so please be patient in hearing them out. Continue with a healthy discussion so you can solve this problem together.

If you need someone to vent your frustration on, contact Ulead Tech Support. If you can't reach them by phone, go to http://www.ulead.com/tech/techsupport.htm and submit an email through the "Technical Support Form".

You got me wrong....

Post by Hepzibuh22 »

I wasn't being sarcastic in thanking people who tried to help me. I was going nuts all weekend and it was great to see how many people were trying to come up with a solution.

I am a bit peeved that you assumed that a compliment was sarcasm.

Thanks for editing your post... just reminding you to stay cool my man... nothing wrong with voicing out your frustrations, it's understandable... as long you say it the right way.

The Ulead Tech guys were kind enough to give me this solution:

*Delete the contents of the 'C:\Document and settings\[username]\Local setings\Temp' folder. This is where self extracting installers extract the installer files. Hence, if there are any corrupt or duplicate files there, it might cause problems even if you reinstall a troubled software. It is safe to delete the Temp folder's contents. Those files where presumably put there because they are no longer needed after the installation.

*Uninstall VideoStudio temporarily from the Control Panel.

*Download WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe from the link below. Read the details as well so you can undertstand more about the issue it fixes.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=de

*Reinstall VideoStudio 8 and since you have the SE version, download the update patch for SE from http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp80.htm. Those of you who have the full version (ESD or retail), get the other update patch.

Take note of what Ken Berry said about "packet writing" softwares.

If you still have problems after following these steps, I suggest you contact Ulead Tech Support directly through email. Go to http://www.ulead.com/tech/techsupport.htm and submit an email through the "Technical Support Form".

Sounds complicated....but I'll give it a try. Too bad I have to go all through that when another program works perfectly without all this fuss.

As for my editing....I only added the word "albeit" in front "unsuccessful" and fixed a typo. I don't see how that would change the tone.

I also have had a very hard time burning DVD's using Visual Studio. I have tried everything with no success. Creating movies is easy and fun. But I can't burn them to DVD.

I don't seem to have a "Share" option in UVS6.02 - as described in the bug work-arounds. Should I just give up on DVD authoring with UVS? (I've never been able to play a UVS vid on anything but a computer).

I wouldn't give up on UVS entirely, but maybe on V6.02 -- it's pretty ancient. Download the V9 trial to see how you like it.

I think Ulead came up with the "Share" moniker after V6, and I'm not sure what the equivalent was called in V6. But it certainly can create a new output file in a number of different video formats.

Hepzibuh22,

I don't see where your posts are sarcastic, you are fustrated.

You mean to say when you open up VS8 and go directly to the
SHARE -> Create Disk Module
Then Insert/Load your already created Mpeg2 file into the timeline
and have "Do Not Convert Compliant Files" checked ON.
Then continue on and preview the video etc.
Continue to hit the "Next" icon until the burning module comes up.
If you "UNCHECK" Record to Disk.
And "CHECK" Create disk Image File
Then make sure to click on the Folder Icon to the right of the image file
directory and location to make sure it's a valid location.

Then click on the "Output Advanced Settings" tab and make sure
nothing in that screen is selected. (Include personnel folder & include
dvd player).

Then when you click on 'Output" on the bottom right of the screen
the program should immediately start creating the ISO file.

I don't understand why the program is saying "Can't Open" when the
program is trying to create a file.

These would be the instructions to create an ISO file using the full version
of VS8. Maybe yours is different, but you should be able to create
either "Dvd Folders" or and ISO file.

Hope this helps,

MD

Not all versions of VideoStudio have burning or authoring capabilities. There are some SE versions (usually comes bundled with another product) that has this feature removed.

The same problem when burning DVD or making ISO

Post by GeorgeVS »

Dear maddrummer3301,

i did everything according to your suggestion, but without result and I have the same problem as Hepzibuh22.

I have project and I try to burn (trying various settings) with this result:

(1) converting... OK
(2) Video/Audio multiplexing ... OK (makes BurnTmp directories and files)
(3) Finalizing VOB ... OK
(4) Writing DVD UDF disc Image ... 0% --> Cannot open file [93006:1:0]

my comp: Celeron 2.8GHz, WinXP, a lot of spaces on HDD. I prepared also very small project - 19MB / 24 seconds DVD video - for tests.

What is interesting and suspicious in 'Create Disc window':
Required/Available hard drive space is for example 59.9MB / 22 GB
but Required/Available disc space is 19MB / 0 bytes !???

In every cases I have correct settings of the DVD folders and disc image folder (user rights & enough space).

Problem resolved - Everything is great -- until I try to ...

Post by GeorgeVS »

I have once again installed patches and updates in this order ( http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs.htm):

(1) CD/DVD Burning Pack (Version: 3.6.19.281, Release Date: 2005/07/27, http://www.ulead.com/tech/general/burning_patch.htm)

(2) 16X DVD Burning Pack (Release Date: 2004/11/18 ) ( http://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Updates/Share/ ... _patch.exe )

(3) CD/DVD Burning Engine Updates (3.6.17.246, 2004/07/27, ftp://ftp.ulead.com/Silent/ULCDRDrv/3617246.zip)

There is small problem / mistake: some dll are older, some newer. So I rewrote only the older files...

Required/Available disc space is still 19MB / 0 bytes (!???), but now it seems to work correctly, the result of Create disc image file is 'Operation completed succsefully [17010:4:0]'. I performed only the small testing project, but it seems everything to be OK now...

So what about You, did you resolved the problem this way too ?

Good night & enjoy Video Studio ...
