Editing Question re: 8mm Film -> AVI file -> MPG
I have a large number of 8mm films that have been commercially converted to AVI files. They were converted 'Full Frame', which means that the sprocket holes are visible along the left side of the image. I now want to edit them and create MPG files for transfer to DVD. Is there a way to filter out the sprocket holes and still retain the full frame image? I've played with filters a bit, and it always seems to result in cropping the top or bottom of the image. It would not bother me if, in order to avoid cropping the image, there was a black border along the right edge. I'm using VS X6 on a Win7 system.

Re: Editing Question re: 8mm Film -> AVI file -> MPG
If you use the filter labelled 'Cropping', apply it to the avi, then click on the Options blue button on the far right of the VS screen, about half way down, a new screen will open, listing Cropping as being the active filter. There is another button to Customise the filter. A new screen opens with simple controls to adjust both the height and width of the crop. If you are just wanting to get rid of the sprockets on either side of the video, naturally you would set Height to 100 but the width to something less...
