Corel VS X7 32bit could not START, UNABLE to fix Error 38

Post by thanhdat2212 »

Hi, this is really my first post on this forum, so I apologize if I make any mistake, and for my bad English too

I've just installed a trial VS X7 32bit, the installation went smoothly.
After installation, I fill in my Email for registering product. But from then, VS X7 never start!
I started it again from my Start Menu, and I got an error:
"Error: 38 - Corel VideoStudio files have been damaged or modified. Please reinstall your original source."
I had reinstalled it many times, but nothing changed!

> These are my ATTEMPTS:
1. I searched Google, they said that the problem was Protexis Licensing V2 service, so I got in "services.msc", Started the service and made it "Automatic"
Then I started VS X7 with all my hopes, but it didn't start! I started it again, the error appeared.
So, I had taken a look at Task Manager, and found one thing TERRIBLE:
- I started the service, the service status is "Running" in Service page (page or tag? sorry for my English!), in Processes page PsiService_2.exe was running too.
- Then I start VS X7, PsiService_2.exe jumped to about 45% CPU, it took 8000Kb of Memory, for 3 seconds and it disappeared, the service was stopped too.
- So, it explains that the first time start VS X7, error doesn't appear, the 2nd time (service stopped) error appears.
2. I tried uninstall the service by deleting it from Regedit, then reboot, and install VS X7 again, but nothing changes.

> These are some STRANGE THINGS:
1. Before downloading VS X7, I used X6 for some time, it worked very well; then I install X7, while the X7 couldn't run, the X6 still run smoothly (if the service is running), the X6 doesn't make the service stop.
2. I download MotionStudio X4, installed it, I started it, it couldn't start, but it doesn't stop the service; in Process page, when I started MotionStudio again, MStudio.exe appeared for some seconds, took some CPU %, loaded some Memory, and then disappeared!
~> what happening to Corel products in my computer?!!

Thanks for reading, hope that someone will help me out of this!

Thanhdat 2212, this is my first post too here. I found your post searching for a solution because I have the identical set up and issues as you have written below, and also tried all the steps you did with no luck. I have spent too much time trying to get Corel X7's trial to work, and I'm just going to use my X6. Were you able to get it to load yet?

Is trial time expired? This behavior sounds like that.
