Corel Draw to Paintshop Pro

Post by jglazer »

I have been struggling with this for years. I figured that when Corel purchased Paintshop Pro this would be a non-issue but ... oh well..

So I create a vector image (even on one layer) in CorelDraw and now I want to export this as vectors to Paintshop Pro. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY? I cannot seem to do it. There are a lot of graphics formats that CorelDraw exports to that Paintshop Pro claims it will import (such as CGM) but when I try to import in Pantshop Pro it says "invalid file information" or something like that. This is not rocket science. Can anyone help here?

Paintshop Pro X6
Corel Draw 12 (i don't use draw often).

Thanks!

If you're trying to maintain the vector, then in my experience the best vector format that PSP imports is WMF. It will also import EMF.

Not being a vector program PSP's ability to import vectors is very small. Most of the vector formats PSP claims to be able to import, PSP will rasterize first.

I'm not familiar with Computer Graphics Metafile format, so I can't speak as to why PSP won't open it.

I agree. The only success I've had getting CorelDraw vectors into PSP has been with EMF, which I used simply because it's a newer specification:

Yes, I think it can be eeeeeasily done...

I have some very old .CGM vector images (from an ancient version of PrintMaster) and PSP X6 can open then as vector with all of the object layers intact. Perhaps Corel has changed something about that format so that they are no longer compatible with PSP.
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16
