Re: What is the status with ASP v2 ?
It seems that there is still no one from the development team participating on this Forum or on the https://www.facebook.com/CorelAfterShotPro pages either.jknights wrote:Please can we have some communication update on the progress with ASP v2 or even beta code to test and feedback on from the ASP v2 product.

I have extracted the following from the Facebook Page.
Corel AfterShot Pro Thanks for the feedback everyone. We hear you and are passing all your words of wisdom on to the product team. Unfortunately that as all we can do for now. We do promise to update you when we can. And yes, we've said that before...but...no updates to announce (or that we can announce). On behalf of the AfterShot team we extend our sincerest apologies.

RLCH Interesting response. Why is the AfterShot Team not responding here? Responses from an anonymous cipher are not good enough for an International corporate company.

Corel AfterShot Pro Hi Richard. Though not part of the AfterShot product team which consists of developers, product managers, etc., we are still part of the AfterShot and Corel photo team.
As part of the marketing team we are updating you on any new developments we allowed to share and passing along your comments and feedback (and frustration). Essentially we are acting as your voice within the company, so rest assured, you are being heard. That is our job and we are taking it seriously.

RLCH It would seem quite reasonable that a 'Product Manager' should take an active and continuous role in this discussion. Please apply your boot to their nether regions!
From which I assume that asking questions is not a productive exercise .....

I'd be surprised if there was an actual ASP version 2.

We'll just have to hope that Aerospace Specialty Products never get taken over by Corel

B.t.w., Rick Champagne has informed me that he's not with the ASP team any longer. Now it's Greg Wood who's eagerly waiting to answer our questions

Well I look forward to getting some code to test. I dont know when but in the mean time I continue to use other tools and technologies that reinforce why I preferred Bibble.

You can only laugh at that feeble attempt at an official statement.Corel wrote:As you may know from forum posts the Corel photo team has undergone some changes. While the changes may have delayed the release of version 2.0, we can assure you that it is only a delay and that a new version is coming.
With the new version you will see new and more camera support, increased speed and power, new noise reduction tool, bug fixes and new features. Unfortunately that is all we can share at this time.
But at least they've going to keep Linux support and all that "all current plugins will work with the new version". Whenever that will be.

Re: What is the status with ASP v2 ?
I am inclined to think that something is happening. Some of the plugin developers (those for whom they did not have email details) were contacted by Mr Lin recently. No information was provided, but there was some mention of a new plugin SDK. From this unsolicited approach I assume there is something coming, or else why bother to contact us? If there's a new SDK then I'd be surprised if existing plugins worked, but I guess it's possible.lundbech wrote:... and all that "all current plugins will work with the new version". Personally, I gave up waiting a long time ago. Whether I set aside time to recompile my plugins, if that's needed, will depend on what they release and how busy I am. I can't see how they could possible have caught up to other software in terms of IQ and features. ASP has a speed advantage and the plugins are also an advantage, but those things aren't everything and IQ is high on my list of priorities. I'd also be surprised if they've managed to support Fuji x-trans, given the problems that Adobe had with it. X support is not simply a case of adding another camera, not by a long shot.

I do pray that there will not be another change in the interpretation of legacy files. We had to re-process files when changing from B4 to B5 and again from B5 to ASP1 because of changing colors, crops and rotations. I hope there will be some consistency this time - though that might cause maze artifacts in older Olympus RAWs remaining forever ...

Re: What is the status with ASP v2 ?
A change in the plugin SDK is not the same as a change in the processing engine or the settings format. There have been several changes in the SDK in the past that required the plugins to be recompiled but which did not change the appearance of images. That's not so say that it won't or can't happen (again), just that it isn't necessarily indicated by changes in the SDK.lathspell wrote:I do pray that there will not be another change in the interpretation of legacy files.
