VSX7 free content

Post by aussiejoe »

When I was trialing VSX6 I kept getting a pop up box showing free content that could be downloaded (templates etc)

Now that I have VSX7 ultimate paid version the pop up doesnt appear. Im assuming the free stuff is compatible with VSX7?

I have tried the "discovery centre" link within the program but dont see any free content mentioned.
I cant see it on the main Corel site either.

Can someone help me with a link/address to the free content
cheers

Click on the red icon next to the music icon at the top of the edit screen, this will open the Corel Guide, you can then download all the free content, unfortunately you can only download one at a time, makes it a long process.

Mine doesn't have any free content showing, only shows tutorials, webinar or one-on-one training. Does that mean that no free content available or am I doing something wrong?

Yes, I registered it. I've submitted a question to Corel support as I'm still within the 30day free support time.

When I had a similar (but not identical) problem with X5 it was suggested to me to go into internet options for internet explorer, advanced tab and enable advanced protection mode (scroll down to security items). Set IE as your default browser (at least temporarily). Another suggestion was under the advanced tab to reset internet explorer and also set IE as the default browser.
You need to reboot.
One or both of these worked for me but I have no idea why. Possibly because the Corel Guide Screen opens in internet explorer.
I prefer Firefox as a browser so once the Corel Guide and extra stuff was working I changed back to Firefox as my default browser and have had no issues since.

Regards

Paul

When I first installed X7, I could not find the Graphics tab on that Do More screen. Corel told me that it would only appear if I opened VS and left it open for half an hour or more, and repeated this several times! I think they said five, but that didn't work. However, the graphics tab just miraculously appeared one day. But I simply don't understand why Corel puts us through such silly mumbo-jumbo to get what should be immediately available!

So far they have asked me to delete temporary internet files, and disable my antivirus and Firewall. It was still the same.
Then they asked me to uninstall, disable startup programs, disable account control, create a new Windows profile and reinstall. I have done all that and also deleted version 4 which was still on my computer, and it is still the same!

Hi

Very annoying, at one time I only saw a few tabs, but like Ken cannot say what I did to fix. I know at that time Corel were working on the server.

Did you try resetting Internet Explorer, Tools – Internet Options – Advanced Tab – Reset Internet Explorer Settings, sets IE as initial installation.

When you re-installed Video Studio did you choose to “remove all personal details”?

If we knew what caused this problem we would be able to replicate it but I do feel it may be a setting on your pc, somewhere???

I just tried reset of Internet Explorer. Still the same.
I did remove all my personal details when I uninstalled. Luckily I hadn't done much work in x7.
I also uninstalled x4 just in case, but still nothing!
Waiting for next suggestion from Corel Support, but last message from them was yesterday afternoon so I suppose they're having a think about it!

Hi dumbdumber

Did Corel provide you with the X7 cleanup file to uninstall the program, if not can you try a re-install using the attached file,
Maybe that will do a better job, however another user did use the file then manually clear the registry before sorting a similar issue with X7.

They sent me an update for a graphics something or other which I installed, still no joy. They now say "due to the complexity of the question" they have passed it on to Level 2 Support, so I'm waiting to hear from them.
