Screen Capture VSX7
Does anyone know how to get rid of the "Cross Hairs" when using Screen Cap X7, everytime I try to record it puts cross hairs in the video, I am sure that I did not have this issue with X6

Re: Screen Capture VSX7
Thanks Brian, further testing reveals that if I use Screen Capture from within VSX7 there are no cross hairs. The cross hairs only appear if I use Screen Capture from the stand alone desktop shortcut.

I did try both ways - the thought did cross my mind that there might be a difference - but no cross hairs either way

Thanks for trying Brian, those cross hairs continue to appear every time I use the stand alone shortcut, So won't try anymore, will stick to using it from within VSX7

Re: Screen Capture VSX7
FWIW I just tried it too with the stand-alone version (and embedded one too) and I too did not get cross hairs... Nor can I see anything in the Settings for it that might have caused it...

Re: Screen Capture VSX7
Thank you all for spending time on this, further testing with the desktop shortcut shows that the cross hairs only appear if I use custom setting and not fullscreen, so where I only want to capture a portion of the screen (which is most of the time) the cross hairs appear, use fullscreen and they don't appear.

Hi Robert
Checked that out, I do not see the Crosshairs whatever size I capture.
Do you see the lines when setting up the capture screen or only after capture???

Re: Screen Capture VSX7
Hi Trevor,
The cross hairs appear and start pulsating as soon as the recording starts, always in the centre of the screen, not the centre of the video being recorded, just unable to find any logical explanation for this behavior

Re: Screen Capture VSX7
Having now installed the 32 bit version of VSX7, I am now getting the cross hairs no matter which method I use, standalone or from within, looks like I am back to using Camtasia Studio 8 for screen recording again.

Hi Robert
It does appear to be your computer, what desktop features have you set from the Personalisation options and or Display properties.?
Is the Graphics driver up to date?

Re: Screen Capture VSX7
I agree Trevor, it's my computer that is the issue, however it is an issue specific to Corel VS, If I use Camtasia Studio 8 or Microsoft Expression Encoder 4, I can screen capture any region of the screen without pulsating cross hairs appearing.
I do not use Aero themes and the graphics card drivers are up to date.
Robert
Edit:
Seeing as I only have a few days warranty period remaining, I have submitted a support ticket and whilst I don't expect much of a response (if that issue with Vitascene transitions is any guide) I might as well use it, they might just come up with a solution.

Re: Screen Capture VSX7
With the help of Corel Support the issue is now resolved.
It seems that one of the Startup programs was causing the problem.
So in msconfig.exe, I first checked "Hide all Microsoft Services"then under the Services Tab I disabled all remaining services and the cross hairs no
longer appear.
Problem is, I am having extreme difficulty in identifying which service is causing the problem, to enable each service one at a time, reboot, then load VS, check to see if the cross hairs still do not appear, then repeat for each service will take hours.
If I leave all remaining services disabled, will that cause me any issues other than maybe slow loading times for the disabled services.

Re: Screen Capture VSX7
Hi Robert
At least you are on the right track.
If you sort the list by Manufacturer would that help in eliminating some/most.
Maybe an unusual listing will shine out
I see 29 in my Services list, 33 in Startup some about 6 are marked as stopped leaving me with 23.
I run McAfee anti virus, 11 of them, I don’t think they should cause a problem so I am down to checking 12.
Otherwise post a screen or 2 shot of your list that we can compare, its probably some small free software that you have installed that is causing the problem?
