PIP crashes VSX7

Post by aussiejoe »

Anyone else finding that when selecting picture in picture from the FX menu VSX7 crashes and has to be restarted.
I have noticed also that any templates (such as in Instant Templates - middle) which feature PIP are also currupted

Is it possible to just reinstall this FX only without a complete reistall of VSX7
cheers

It works fine on my X7 on a Win 8.1 64 bit computer...

Unfortunately, I don't think you can load it alone, though I seem to think that it is in the Bonus Content file you would have installed when you bought the program, and that at least lists the NewBlue effects (of which PiP is one) for separate installation. So at least you should be able to minimise any reinstallation to just the NB filters. I am assuming here you have X7 Ultimate...?

Yes I have VSX7 ultimate. Im on a Win 7 64bit PC

Like Ken,in VSX7 the New Blue PiP filter and Instant Projects, all categories work fine on my Win 7 system.
Are your issues only restricted to using PiP, what happens when you try to use multiple overlay tracks, any issues, if so, make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date
The FX PiP New Blue filter is installed as part of the Bonus Pack, however, the Instant Projects (middle) is installed as part of the VSX7 installation, so can only suggest that you first try uninstalling VSX7, making sure you delete all traces from your computer, then reinstall. if the problem still persists and you are still within 30 days of purchase, you could open a ticket with Corel Support.

thanks for the suggestions.

I actually restored my system to an earlier point which fixed the issue.
Why, who knows!

It pays to do manual restore points on a regular basis

Yes. I have just been reminded very painfully of that, and also to read my Microsoft Help a bit more carefully. I just tried to load -- ironically -- CorelDRAW X4 on my Win 8.1 machine. For some unknown reason, this caused all my apps to simply not work -- not all the main programs, just the apps that came with Windows. So I read the Microsoft help and it suggested something new: a "Refresh" rather than a "Restore". I thought I would try something new, only to find Refresh totally removes all programs except those initially installed with Win 8.1!! On the refreshed computer I tried CorelDRAW once again, only to have the same thing happen, but this time I had made a Restore point before the DRAW install, and this saved me time, I guess. But I still spent a day reloading all my programs, including the annoyingly slow VS X7 and X6!!! I then created a new Restore point and will continue to do so with each program I load. Easy enough but too easy to forget to do regularly!!!
