Nikon D5300 RAW support?
Does Aftershot Pro support the Nikon D5200 successor, the D5300, yet? I own the Nikon D5300. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It would appear not:
Elsewhere in this forum you will find a hack which will allow you to kid AfterShotPro into thinking your photographs were taken with a D5100, and thus that it can dematrix them

Re: Nikon D5300 RAW support?
I sincerely appreciate the info. I hope Corel adds Nikon D5300 RAW support in the next patch/version. Has anyone heard of the next update/release?

I think the only people holding their breath died some time ago. Corel's FaceBook page for AS says they can't tell us anything, but it is in the works. If you read the threads in this part of the forum, this announcement has generated a good deal of sceptical comment.

AFAIK. There have been no updates since AfterShot 1.2.0.7 which happened in March 2013.
That is a year ago!!!

Re: Nikon D5300 RAW support?
I wonder if there is a way to convert the RAW file using other software and into a format that ASP can read?
In addition, I think RAW file format may not have changed with new camera. I wonder if it is possible to just change the ASP database or image EXIF to fool ASP into opening them?

Re: Nikon D5300 RAW support?
The benefits of After Shot pro is in its processing of the raw image data. Why would one consider using an alternative raw converter to process their raw files.nex4 wrote:I wonder if there is a way to convert the RAW file using other software and into a format that ASP can read?

Then what benefits are you expecting to achieve from the use of ASP??????

Re: Nikon D5300 RAW support?
The way that I see it. RAW file is just a representation of uncompressed image with maximum detail allowed by the camera. If there are software that can convert the non-ASP-supported RAW file into a ASP-supported RAW file. Then it is a win-win. We are no longer tied to ASP upgrade schedule. Better yet, we are not forced into upgrades and take chances with issues (e.g. white balance bug, missing noise-ninja, etc)
For example, The Sony A6000 is, of course, not supported. But if the A6000 .ARW file can be converted into a supported NEX-6 .ARW file, everyone will be happy. One proof of concept is that the official software used for converting Sony .ARW is Sony Image Data Converter. This software has not been updated since 2012. Yet, it is able to open .ARW file from A3000, announced in Aug 2013 using a brand new 20MP sensor! (so far NEX sensors are 14MP, 16MP or 24MP)
DNG is one universal RAW format. I think someone asked about DNG support by ASP earlier and the answer is DNG is supported only for the kind of DNG generated by certain camera.
However, the solution can be as simple as using a EXIF editor to change a RAW file to fool ASP into believing it is opening a RAW file generated by an supported camera.

Re: Nikon D5300 RAW support?
Guess what? I am able to open RAW file from A3000 in ASP after running the following command:
exiftool -Model=NEX-3N -IFD1:Model=NEX-3N -SonyModelID=NEX-3N DSC00094.ARW
I see ASP supports D5200. So I would encourage you to experiment with exiftool (try with just the -Model= option first)
