I wonder just how long the guide will stay this time.

74 titles seems to many and I think you have duplicated one of the packs giving you 10 extra, you will probably be able to see 10 duplicates. You should have 64 after installing all title packs.

Try Exporting the library again to a new folder, then Reset the library. Does that clear the black FX clips. I am unsure if reset actually resets everything or just the user clips / samples

If it does not clear the FX black clips -- reset the program by re-naming 15.0 folder to “15.0copy”

C:\Users\Trevor\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\15.0

Start Video Studio will re-create a new 15.0 folder, video studio may take a little longer to open.

You can always re-import one of the copies if you wish.

System Restore, I don’t like using that option except for a last resort, always to cause other problems?

Ok I have just ran a few tests......
1 / Exported my library to a folder on my desktop.
2 / Then Reset the library (should revert the library to as installed) that looked ok but lost all ProDad filters, That’s if you have the Ultimate version.
3 / Then import library, still no filters.
4 / Reset program by re-naming 15.0

The library now shows all default program library content including ProDad.
I have however lost all my user defined library clips, but not a problem as we can import again.

In fact you should only have 54 titles so it looks as though you added more than one pack twice...

I followed your suggestions and Reset the Library which eliminated the corrupt New Blue FX stuff, at least the thumbnails and as you mentioned I lost the ProDad filters. I do have X5 Ultimate. I then renamed 15.0 to 15.0copy and reopened VS X5. The ProDad filters reappeared but so did the black/blank/corrupt FX Video filter thumbnails. I guess I have a choice between the corrupt FX filter thumbnails showing or not having ProDad.

So I intend upgrading to X7 Ultimate and to forget about the corrupted X5 (the Corel Guide is still working) is there a tool to completely remove it and X2 as I seem to have some residual files of X2 even though I uninstalled it and I suspect that I will get residual files of X5 if I uninstall it in the same way (Revo Uninstaller-free version). I appreciate that it should be OK to run more than one version on the same PC but I'd prefer not to have corrupted stuff sitting on my PC. I am also assuming that I will be able to open my X5 projects in X7.

Do you or anybody else know if I can purchase X7 Ultimate on DVD but at an upgrade price rather than the full price? I have looked and I can only find download versions for the upgrade. Were I to have a system issue and want to re-install X7 Ultimate could I re-install a downloaded version or would I need the physical DVD version.

Hi Paul

The black FX filters seem a mystery I can only assume they are not installed correctly, can you tell us which ones, or provide a screen shot/Jpeg image of the library panel.

Uninstalling programs

There was a Cleanup tool for X5 but I do not have for VS12
Some info on manually removing X5 and X2
Along with Revo Uninstaller you should find most if not all files.

installing multiple versions, yes many users have several installed, I would advise that you install then from older to latest versions, some files are shared and installing an older version after the latest may cause some issues by overwriting the new files, if you get my drift.

Purchasing Corel Products
I normally buy the download version, purchased over the internet allows me to use the US suite that is sometimes cheaper than in the UK.
The downloaded files including any serial numbers are saved to disc as a backup, and to an external hard drive, just in case.

Disc Version, as far as I know you cannot use a disc version serial number to activate a downloaded version. So yes you would need the disc to reinstall, or at least the files from the disc. (back them up on your pc)

And as far as I know the Disc version is not available at the moment only download.

Then download the trial of X7

Excuse my amazing ignorance on this subject but if I buy X7 Ultimate as a download , and save it to my desk-top. Before running it do I just burn the download from, in my case my desk-top, (its where my downloads go) to a Cd or DVD in case I need to re-install it at a future date?

Purely as a backup so you have a copy in case you lose the downloaded file saved to your pc.
It would have to be a DVD disc as the X7 files are quite large 1.5 Gb+ each file.

Understood.

I have utilised the X5 Cleaning Tool you kindly supplied and have also reinstalled X5. Everything is working as it should.

When I re-installed x5 this evening I had 34 Titles. I then downloaded and installed Do_ More Title Packs 5,6,7 and 8 plus the 4 Font packs. I now have 74 titles and as far as I can tell from perusing the thumbnails no duplicates.
