Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Update:
Everything was working OK when I started my PC this morning. That is to say the Help and Product Information button functioned as it should.I then did some internet banking as as is my practice I deleted browser history immediately after. The Help etc button still functioned. I then ran the free version of Ccleaner (not the registry cleaner), which also "cleans" X5 and immediately after this the Help and Product Info button failed to function properly.
I assume therefore that CCleaner has removed something needed. I have tried the exact same changes I applied previously(see above) to Internet Explorer but to my frustration I cannot get the little orange button to function properly again.
So perhaps not a X5 issue but possible more a Ccleaner issue that I am stymied by.
Regards
Paul

Good morning Paul
Can you tell me which Internet Explorer version you are using....
Are the orange buttons for the 'Get more content' also not working......
Please note that I am using CCleaner on a weekly basis and never encounter this type of problem.......

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Good Morning Snowstorm
The version of IE on my computer is 11. I say on my computer because I use Firefox as my default browser but I thought that the Corel Help and Product Information (orange button)connects via internet explorer.
As to your question about the "Get more content" it maybe that VS X6 and VS X5 are different. I have one small orange button at the top right of the screen which is for "Help and Product Information" Once in that "Corel Guide etc) there are other tabs one of which is do more.
However I do not get the Help and Product Information button to fully open the first screen, it partially opens and then after 30seconds to a minute of egg-timer a white screen appears headed "This Page Can't be Opened" With 3 suggestions about checking the URL etc.
Any thoughts?
Regards

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Here some more details on the orange buttons
You should try to use this button in the library section
obviously if the buttons located in the libraries are not working your Internet browser has to be reset to original set-up.
If you use IE11 you should verify your Safety set-up

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
If you think CCleaner is the issue, have you tried restoring your computer to a time before your problems started.
I use Firefox and have no issues with the Corel Guide loading and have full access to the "Get more Content"

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Dear Snowstorm and Robert
The library orange button did work partially and gave me access to the Help . I remembered something else I did this morning I used Citrix Metaframe to communicate with my office server from home. This creates a download file and this was still in Firefox Downloads. When I deleted this I was able to use the orange button located near the Libraries and the orange button at the top far right of the main screen (they do the same thing I think).
Once the Corel Guide is open there are 4 Tabs. The first 2 "Home" and "Learn" seem to work fine but the "Do More Tab" only has 3 items a links to Jamendo audio tracks, Boris Graffiti and New Blue. All these 3 are to buy. The free bonus content and templates etc do not appear. The 4th Tab "Messages" is empty.
I have no comprehension as to why Citix would have had any effect, assuming it did and I certainly do not know how to get the free stuff and the messages back. If you have any suggestions as to how I can achieve that I'd appreciate it.
Thank you very much for all your help.

Does the Do More page not have across its top a series of tabs, with names like Templates, Titles etc?...the "Do More Tab" only has 3 items ...

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Hi
Thanks Ken...
Corel Guide accessed from the library orange button opens with the Do-More tab. This is what I see:- If you only see a few templates then it may refresh the next time you access the guide, if it keeps working that is.
I would suspect that continually deleting the history may be not be doing you any favours, VS accessing its default page before updating to the current one.
Most users notice this when first installing the program.
After hitting the orange button do not press any other button till the page has loaded.
Thanks Ken...

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Thanks for the input.
As I type it is still functioning but I only have 3 Tabs when clicking on the orange button.Audio which has 1 item for sale, tools which has 2 items for sale and All whichj shows the total of the other two.My templates tab does not appear.
I note the suggestion about onl;y clicking the once and I have been very careful in this regard and the Corel Guide opens fully it just appears to be short of the bonus content/templates etc and the messages.
You mention that deleting of history may be an issue. Are you referring to browser history which I confess to clearing on a regular basis, particularly if I have used a credit card on-line or logged into on-line banking? I had thought this was a sensibly precautionary measure, am I mistaken?
Regards and thanks for all your help.

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Hi Paul
Well you do seem to be able to get the Guide to work then it fails again, so maybe your efforts on internet security deleting history has some bearing, I have however tried this with no adverse affect to X5 guide.
I know that re-installing X5 may cause some issues when first accessing the guide but eventually work after a few re-starts.
When you tweak Internet Explorer I assume you have used the option to Re-Set from the Advanced tab, that will restore IE to its default installed state.
If you are only seeing 3 tabs, have you registered the program again after re-installing, this normally involves providing your registered e-mail address. If not then you may not see the Do-More tab allowing you to download the templates.

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Yes I did Tweak Internet Explorer in the way you suggested.
I do have my original DVD's but I haven't actually been brave enough to re-install VS X5, yet so I haven't been asked to re-register.I did check on my Corel Account as I hoped the bonus content might be available to down load again but I couldn't see it.My X5 does show as registered in my Core Account.
Are you thinking that if I re-install I will be asked to register again and this will cause an invitation to down load the bonus stuff again?
Regards

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Hi Paul
I had assumed wrongly as it seems that you had already re-installed the program.
When you install Video Studio and then access the Corel Guide the program will prompt you to register, if you already have an account then you simply insert your e-mail address, doing so proves you are the owner of the product, this allows full access to the Do-More and all downloads.
If you do not register then the Do-More content will be limited.
Immediately after registering the Do-More may take a few restarts before showing the new updated content.
That is my understanding of what goes on.
You can only download the Do_More templates once even if you re-install. They will show in the guide as being “Installed” The downloads will be saved to your pc…..
As you have not re-installed VS doing so may improve things, but as we don’t have a definite reason for the problem we are simply clutching at straws trying everything we can think of.
Ok back to Video Studio program
1 / Have you applied all patches for X5
2 / Have you reset the program to its default state by re-naming the folder 15.0
You have not re-installed the program but that should be your next attempt in fixing this issue. First make sure you have the Serial number at hand before uninstalling.
I have to say there should be no problem in uninstalling.
The Software was purchased on disc, not sure but this may allow a “repair option” if you try to run the disc installation again.
Paul what in particular are you interested in on the Do More downloads.
If the program is functioning correctly and you do not wish to re-install then I can provide you with the X5 templates.
The two main downloads would be the Title/Text packs and the Instant Projects Templates.

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Hi Trevor
I uninstalled x5, I also uninstalled X2 and the trial of X7 whilst I was in the mood.
I re-installed X5 and updated it to SP2 .(I assume that SP2 includes SP1 as when I checked for updates using the Corel Guide it only suggested SP2)
The Corel guide opens but the Do More tab still only has the 3 tabs and a total of 3 items in total items,so the same as was!!!
Thank you so much for the offer of the do more Titles/Texts which I'd appreciate receiving but I have no use for the Instant Project stuff.
Once received where do I put them?
Regards

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Hi Paul
Have you downloaded the Do-More titles in the past, if so they will be saved to your pc here:-
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads
The folders are hidden by your operating system so you will have to choose to show hidden files and folders. The folder names are all numbers so don’t really describe the contents (example C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads\540233871_317005\1329331408303)
Extra titles…
The actual file is called DoMore_Title_05.exe, search your pc, installing will add 10 extra titles to your library. I think there are three more 06, 07, 08.exe
How many titles do you see in your X5 library.?
Copy from VS to VS
You can copy text/titles from one vs to another.
Open X2 (VS12) drag all titles to the timeline, save the project.
Open project in X5, drag timeline clips to library

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Dear Trevor
Thank you again for your help.
I found the "hidden" folder with the Titles and opened them. Seemed to go well but I must have opened something else as all seemed OK but I finished up with a "Load From Stream " error when I open X5 .After restoring back to before I uninstalled X2,X5 and X7 in order to copy the titles from VS X2 to VS X5 I could not open X2. So I went back to another restore point after the uninstalling of X2 and X7 and was about to uninstall X5 again and reinstall to hopefully to rid myself of the"Load from Stream "error when, before I did this I discovered that not only was X5 working but so was, I repeat, so was the Corel Guide with all its tabs and bonus content.
The only issue I seem to have now is a bunch (about 20) of corrupted Video Files showing under the FX libraries as black blanks. If there is something you can suggest to correct this, great, but I think I have taken enough of your time and I can certainly function without them.
To answer your question I have 74 Titles, is that about right?
Lastly, at your suggestion I previously exported my libraries to my desktop. If I import them back, will the Titles, FX,and other Corel libraries be overwritten or will it just put back the libraries I created.
I also noticed a Library Reset button, under what circumstances would this be useful?
I think I may see a purchase of an upgrade to X7 in my future!!!
Regards
Paul

I think I may see a purchase of an upgrade to X7 in my future!!!

Paul
