VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
I am using VS X5 Ultimate and am trying to open the Help and Product Guide Information---orange button at top right of screen. The screen starts to open but fails after a while with a white screen and the message: "This Page Can't be displayed". Make sure web address is correct, look for page with search engine, refresh page in a few minutes.
I have waited and tried again but the result is the same. This is not something I recall trying for a while so I do not know how long I have had the problem.
The rest of X5 seems to work OK.
I'd appreciate any suggestions as to how to overcome this.
Regards
Paul

There have been a number of users who have reported this problem - it would seem that after a while all returns to normal again.
but you could try contacting Corel support here - see if they know how to cure it :- https://www.facebook.com/corelsupportlearning?fref=ts

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Hi
For what its worth VS 5 Corel Guide works ok on my pc.
You could try hitting F5 to reload the page after you receive the error message.
Have you tried resetting your browser history and cookies, maybe its trying to load from an older url in your history?
Ctrl + F5 should force a reload from the server, so also try that.
There have been lots of issues in the past but at present things seem to be working well at least for most users???

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
I thought before I interact with Facebook, something I have studiously (no pun intended) avoided until now, I'd try something a suggestion I found via Google. This suggested changing IE internet options settings. I prefer Firefox but I believe that the Help and Product information uses IE.The suggestion was to enable "enhanced Protection Mode. My settings showed this as already enabled but I disabled and re-enabled it and Hey Presto my "Help and Product Information" opened properly.------------coincidence??
This leads me to a further question. There is a lot of "bonus" stuff.Am I able to download the lot in one go or do I have to do them one at a time?
Iata thanks for your suggestion.

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Hi Paul
Unfortunately you have to download one at a time, then the program will ask that you install the download, again one at a time.
Again unfortunately there are many templates and not easy to see just what you are getting till you have installed them.
Downloads are saved here:- C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads
then installed to locations on your pc, for instant templates here:- C:\Users\User name\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate
They do not make it easy
hope that helps a little

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Me again.
I guess it was coincidence as once again I cannot get access to the Corel Guide and have tried resetting IE as above but this time it made no difference!!!
I'm again getting the message that "this page can't be displayed" with the same 3 suggestions as to what to do.It suggests I check the URL but I do not know what the URL is that it is loading so how would I do that. It also suggests I look for the page with search engine but as I do not know the page address that seems unhelpful as a suggestion.I have tried F5 and CTRL F5 to no avail.
I have resisted the suggestion to ask Corel via Facebook as I do not have a Facebook page and do not particularly want one. That said do I need to have one in order to query something with Corel via Facebook?
Any other suggestions please.
Regards
Paul

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Hi Paul
After accessing the Corel Guide do nothing, no mouse clicks and wait for the page to load, maybe have a cup of coffee.
It could be that clicking the mouse is interrupting the page being loaded.
I don’t know.
I have no idea where the info regarding the URL is saved on the pc, not for want of looking…
Have you tried resetting the program to its default installed state by re-naming the 15.0 folder.
Starting VS will generate a new folder, this may affect your library so if that is required export the library first.
C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\15.0
However by re-naming you can always revert back to the previous setup.

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Thanks Iata
Perhaps my brand of coffee is not Corel compatible as I still got the same message, and I was ever so gentle!!
I assume that to rename the 15 file I just add old or something else on the end and restart X5??
May I ask how I export the libraries and conversely how would I re-import them?
Regards

Hi Paul
Go to Settings – Library Manager – Export – Import – Reset Libraries.
Create a folder on your desktop to hold the files.
Reset Program
Yes simply rename 15.0 to “15.0copy”
If you wish to revert back, delete the new 15.0 folder and re-name the older version back to 15.0, should do the trick.

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Hi Trevor
Tried rebuilding 15.0 but same result unfortunately. The Corel Guide Screen partially opens, the egg timer flickers and after what seems like eternity but probably less than a minute, a white screen appears telling me the page can't be displayed and with the same 3 suggestions as previously.
Any more thoughts?
Regards

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
Thanks but Adobe Flash Player is up to date.
Something else weird just happened---I think it's weird.
I went into internet explorer and checked that Enable Enhanced Protection Mode was checked under the security tab, it was.I then looked under the advanced tab and near the bottom of the list was an un-ticked Enable Enhanced Protection Mode. I ticked it, restarted my computer and this time the Corel Guide Screen was different, it had a centre section "Please connect to the Internet to see this content" there were a few 3 do more offers and I was able to get into the help.
When I closed X5 and reopened it I again got the original problem. the white screen and 3 suggestions as to what to do.
I suppose I could, very reluctantly, uninstall and re-install X5 as I have the original DVD but is there a good way of uninstalling X5 properly. I have a free copy of Revo Uninstaller.

Re: VS X5 Help and Product Information can't be displayed
I have no understanding what I just did but having read lots of stuff by searching for "This Page Can't be Displayed" on the web I found one suggestion to look at Internet Explorer, internet options, connection tab, Lan Settings and tick if un-ticked the Automatically Detect Settings. Mine was ticked so I un-ticked it, re-ticked it and closed internet Explorer.
I then opened Video studio X5 clicked on the orange help etc button and it all opened as intended.
That said a few days ago I achieved the same thing by disabling and enabling again the Enhanced Protection Mode in Internet Explorer. However the problem re-occured so although I'm optimistic that the Lan Settings change will still be working tomorrow who knows what gremlins control these things.
