I'm using PSP x6. I shoot in RAW and I was looking at my images in the mange tab and I noticed that some of the images had a RAW icon on the top left, and some do not. The ones that do look substantially better than the others.
Does anyone know why this is happening? I don't know why some would be labeled as RAW when they are all RAW images.
Thanks guys.

Re: Manage Tab Raw Icon
How about a few more details. What camera ? Perhaps a screen shot of what you are seeing. Do they alternate, one with Raw icon and then one without, then one with Raw icon? Have you looked in the actual windows folder at the images and observed any difference. I know that in my Canon 5D II I can set to record both Raw + jpg in the one folder and If I observed this in the Manage tab I would also have one Raw one not etc.

Justinuky:
I shoot in raw as well - I keep my raw files separate from the jpgs and have never seen any difference in either the thumbnail or preview modes between the raw and jpgs. Do you see the icon in the thumbnails or on the preview? In my opinion the preview of raw files is not as accurate as for the jpgs and varies quite a bit depending on the content of the image. PSP conversion from raw is barely adequate for average photos.
I use a Pentax and the raw files have .PEF as the extension.

Re: Manage Tab Raw Icon
OK . So I looked at my thumbs in the Organiser and also Manage Thumbnails and there ws no difference between jpgs and Raw files. Could not see any Raw icons on top left UNTIL I started editing some of the image so that the settings for displaying the Raw image were different fro the original camera settings. So it is a way of showing which raw images you have processed or started processing.

Could you post a screen shot with these icons? I don't see any and am curious about what show up.

Re: Manage Tab Raw Icon
OK here is a screen shot of part of the organiser.

The first frame is a CR2 (raw) file as is the third.
The second image is a jpg from camera (shot Raw + Jpg)
I processed the first Raw file to some extremes to make sure the difference was clear.
In the top left corner of the 1 st Raw file there is the icon / word RAW which is is not present in the third frame. Only difference is I made some changes to that firs image and clicked Apply.

Re: Manage Tab Raw Icon
PSP doesn't make changes to the RAW file, but stores changes in a database (RawSettingsDB.db in PSP X4). Some other programs store changes in 'side-car' files with the name of the RAW file.
The PSP database (X4 in Windows 7) is stored in Computer\users\yourName\appdata\local\corel paintshop pro\14.0\database.
That icon means that there are changes stored in the database, that are used as a starting point for editing if you open the file again. You must 'check' "save changes" on the RAW dialogue for changes to be saved. To restart editing from 'out of camera' state, just click on the Reset button.
Deleting the database just loses the changes (and the icon on the thumbnail) but not the RAW file.
