Boris Graffiti 6 question

Hi all,

have just starting using VS7 ultimate which has Boris included.

This Boris program is driving me nuts!

I have been watching a lot of youtube tutorials but have found that for some reason my view of Boris is not as it should be.
I have searched thru every setting I can find within the program and Im at a loss to understand why.

The issue is that when I create text, the control box around the text (the white dotted rectangle) is a long way from the actual text.
In fact when text is initially created its the same size as the background in the composite window . If I resize the box, the text reduces in size.
Im sure there is some simple explanation for this but I cannot find it
