Hi, greetings from Belgium here...
I'm relatively new to PS x6... I love it..
Slowly getting rid of CS5, until I won't use that anymore...
Following problem is happening...
I did a test, took a photo with my Fuji x100s ...
when I resize to 300 dpi , and 60cm wide, in Paintshop and in CS5 .. thus.. excactly the same parameters...( dimensions, pixel width and height , dpi )
Paintshop file is 1.5 mb - Photoshop file is 5.37 mb...
what am I doing wrong here... the pixel size is the same, it's all the same, except for the largeness of the file.. I guess the CS5 file is better to send to the lab to print ?
Why does X6 delivers such a small file after saving like above.... ?
Thanx
jpg 300dpi save is 3 times bigger in CS than PS pro x6

As well are you using the same amount of compression in PSP as in Photoshop. Photoshop used a 1-12 scale wheras PSP uses a 1-99 scale. Change your compression value in PSP during Save As (Options) so that you get the same size file as in Photoshop and then compare the two images .
Although you have not mentioned it I assume you are saving as jpgs. Is there a difference if you save as BMP or Tif ?

How does Service Pack 2 resolve the issue? I've installed it and the main difference I see is that PSP (x64) seems much slower. There seems to be a delay whenever I use an adjustment. I'm not aware of any difference in how the program saves - but will pay attention to that based on your note.

I too would like to know how SP2 helps the Save Compression issue.MarkZ wrote:Joseph:josephlin wrote:Hello. Please try to get the latest Service Pack 2 update for PaintShop to resolve this issue you mentioned below.

Also, I find that PSP X6 SP2 takes a longer time to load than SP1.
The splash screen phase is the same but after the workspace is loaded, the hourglass appears for many seconds (about 10 secs.) which never happened before. With SP1 you could start clicking almost immediately.

Yes , this did the job, the compression was default on 50 i guess.. I put it on zero, file was now + - 30% bigger than the photoshop file...hartpaul wrote:As well are you using the same amount of compression in PSP as in Photoshop. ( it's not that I want bigger files just for fun... I do a lot of larger prints... )
THANK YOU
and indeed, Patch 2 is slower, everytime I do a filter, or whatever, I takes a lot longer than it used to.. I want to work fast !!
