Fitting photos to audio track in VideoStudio X6

Post by roj »

Hi all,

Ive been using Windows Movie Maker and have now purchased VideoStudio X6 and I'm a bit of a novice in respect of the latter, so I apologise if the answer to my question is obvious. I cannot find the answer via Google, these forums or the manual so am getting a little frustrated.

Just wondered if someone could help me out.

I have 432 photo images that I want to play for the duration of a 90 minute audio track. In Winows Movie Maker I just hit the "Fit to Music" button and it's all sorted. Each image will then display for 12.5 seconds until the end of the audio track.

How do I do this in VideoStudio X6 ?

Thanks in advance :D

We tend to do things the other way round in VideoStudio - you decide how long each image is displayed for - then using SmartSound you fit the music to the length of the video.

but if you want to use a music track of your own then you need to do a quick bit of maths dividing the total time for the music by the number of images and then adjusting all images to that time - can be done in one operation.

In other words, if you know the other program assigned 12.5 seconds to each photo, you assign the same duration to each image in Settings. But I have to say that 12.5 seconds for each image sounds awfully boring, and I know for a fact that I -- and I suspect many others -- would never sit still for a 90 minute music track, let alone when it is accompanied by images that each last for 12.5 seconds. What on earth are you trying to achieve???

Thank you for the replies :D

Ken..... "never sit still for a 90 minute music track" is a perfect response :D Let me explain.

The audio track is a well loved DJ mix from a club, some 20 years ago, back in the early days of Rave music.

The video track of images is comprised of a set of various flyers from events at the club over the years it was open. You have the artwork on the front of the flyer and the list of DJ's/acts on the reverse. Displaying for this amount of time gives people the chance to enjoy the artwork and to read the content on the reverse.

However, the "video" of images is the "backing track" for the audio, rather than the other way around. The main purpose of the "video" is to share the audio track for enjoyment and rather than have a static image displayed throughout the whole track, I wanted to share the "memorabilia" in the form of the old flyers.

I feel I have achieved what I had in mind, but was constricted in various ways in Movie Maker, hence my move to VideoStudio.

If there's any interest?.... I'll post a link to the finished video once its completed.

Thanks again :D

Hi

Set F6 – Preferences – Edit tab for Image durations to 12 seconds.
Place the 432 images in the timeline, auto add transitions if you require these, maybe a simple cross fade.
Shift + Click first and last image to select all. (Ctrl + A may do the same)
Right click for Change Photo Duration, continue to tweak the duration till the end of the project match video to images
