BD disc menu not playing on some players

Post by texcoaster »

I used VS X6 Ultimate (with all the latest updates as of today) to create a dual-layer Blu-Ray disc with content in MPEG2 (24000Kbps bitrate). The disc has menus. The first video plays as an intro before the menu comes up. It plays fine within VS X6's test player. It plays fine in CyberLink Power DVD 10 software player. It plays fine in my living room's Panasonic Blu-Ray player.

The problem is that some people put the disc in their own players and either the disc cannot load at all (this was an ancient Magnavox BD player and may not be in the best of shape) or it plays the intro over and over or it plays the intro fine and then moves on to the menu but none of the choices are selectable. These other two players are a Samsung and a slightly older Panasonic (than my own).

Any ideas? I am completely stumped.

Since you have had successful play on a set-top player, this rules out user error with the software in the menu creation and authoring process. Most likely, the problematic BD players are in need of updating their firmware. Samsung BD players are notorious of having these issues. Google "BD player problems" and you will see this is very common.
