i think i did it.

the blue line is hard to see, its thin, but it is there. First I created a clip by dragging the png onto the overlay track, motioning it from the left a bit. then saved as DV and called it "motion line". Clip ended up being a thin blue line against solid black background Then started another movie, with background clip of cowboy musician... then brought in "motion line" clip to overlay track, and applied black chroma key to the motion line clip. Then brought that same clip in three times, at different locations, and dragged the clip to the right.

It does work, but its tricky. Thanks for the great idea!

Hi Rod

I ran out of time last night to reply to you, I noticed Brian uploaded to you tube, is that the effect you require, or do you need the line over the video?

I used the text option to create a line, 10 seconds. Positioned to lower left
Animated using Fly from left (off screen) to on screen to edge, see text clip in attached project.

Animation effect would be Fly-in ---- I used the two TT’s symbol to manually set the animation, Enter and Exit options

Rendered to DVD to create a video file (to reduce file size for attach to post( Dv may be a better option)
I added this clip to the timeline to include in Smart Package
Notice I cut the beginning frames from the video clip so the line appears immediately when played.
Set Fade Out for these clips -- double click these clips to vie w the Basic Motions options.

I guess that’s the tutorial………….
