Hitachi DVD Cam Drivers
I can't get MF3 to recognise the DVD Cam as a capture device. Are there USB drivers for this. Hitachi support has been no help.
I installed the standard USB driver and UDF driver from the disk. I am able to see the camcorder as a hard drive once it's plugged in. I then import DVD video from the camcorder directly. I don't know if it has the feature to to be used as a capture device though.
You might want to just record onto a DVD and then transfer via the import DVD interface. If I get a chance to play with it, I'll let you know if I have success as a capture device.

Hitachi Drivers
Thanks, I could not get the Packaged Software to work so I purchased MF3 which is okay.
I too can get the std drivers to recognise the RAM disk as a hard drive but should be able to see it as a capture device as well.........or so I thought.
If I hear anything I'll let you know.

Same Problem
I have the same problem using ULead Movie Factory 3 / Disc Creator edition with my Hitachi DZ-MV350A camera. When I spoke with a ULead support rep last night, his reply was simply "well, don't use the features that require direct access to the camera - you're really better off without those features anyway." He told me about a "work around" that seems overly complicated for commercial software and was inconveniently slow - if I want to use "work arounds", I'll use shareware!. I wasn't really happy about being told I just spent $60 for crippled software - especially when a previous version of ULead software (I forget which package) was the ONLY software that played nice with this camera and read the files directly. I hope ULead can solve this problem, as there are a lot of Hitachi / Panasonic DVD cameras out there.
If anyone has useful answers, updates, or info on this problem, please feel free to contact me directly at ULead @ StewartsPlace.com

Hitachi DVD cam
Thanks for your reply, DVD cams are obviously the way to go and I have had excellent results from it so far. But I wholeheartedly agree with you that someone should take up the reigns and push a little harder on this issue. I think the problem may be that tape driven cameras still out number the DVD ones, hence "follow the money" not the future. But in a commercial sense this is understandable.........to a point.
