There is a tiresome delay every time I change tools while editing images. I don't recall when I started noticing this, but I think this behavior is fairly recent.
When I switch tools (paintbrush to clone brush or lighten/darken tool, eraser tool, etc.) I cannot actually use the tool until after I try it once with nothing happening, except I get a new entry in the command history: Prepare for Tool.
It is only the next time I use my stylus, that I am actually using the new tool.
I welcome suggestions or information!
I don't see any useful changes I could make in Preferences auto actions, or elsewhere.
As of 6-8 months ago, I switched from a mouse to a Monoprice pen & tablet. I run PSP X6, on Windows 7.
Also tell me if PSP has always been this way & I am just getting old and forgetful, please!
Switching tools in PSP X6 seems slow...

Aye, I've noticed this too.
Strangely enough, using a shortcut like ctrl for the color dropper allows the tool to work instantly. I thought the 64-bit version would help with the loading times, but apparently not.

I noticed slow switch of tools in X5. In X6 all editions (SP1, SP2) is even slower.
So, Corel come on!
Please, do not keep this as *Enhanced* feature for X7!

Re: Switching tools in PSP X6 seems slow...
I have found that when I added my own Preset Shapes etc, and pointed PSP at them under File Locations, accessing them became very slow.
Only using the default ones (without file locations pointing at mine) the loading was quick
I reported this two versions ago...

I have no idea if it has anything to do with anything, but have you tried deleting cache files? File/Preferences/Reset preferences.../Delete all cache files (active caches rebuilt on restart)..

Unfortunately that hasn't made any difference.
Just to see if anything had improved in SP2, I removed my own Preset Shapes and then accessing the default ones was fine.
After I replaced them, it all slowed down again.
This happened in X5 too, so isn't new.
It's annoying, but I can live with it (I'll have to..)
Thanks.
