Lost pan and zoom

Post by robinski »

I cannot find the 'pan and zoom' option. I have right clicked on the image but it is not revealed. Where is it?

Have you looked in the FX window (the FX button being located to the immediate right of the preview screen in X6). That contains all the filters, and the one you are after is called Video Pan & Zoom (even though you are apparently wanting to apply it to a photo. A still photo in a video project nevertheless has a duration and will become video upon rendering.) When you apply the filter, click on the Options button in the middle of the far right of your screen to customise the zoom and panning motion.

Thanks Ken, I have now found that but the option I am looking for provided me with two windows of the same photo with the ability to 'zoom' into part of the photo.

You mean you don't get this screen when you go into Options > Customise Filter?

I am wondering where you see Resampling Options. When you apply the filter, do you not have the Options button I mentioned: see attached photo.

As far as i am aware I am not applying a filter. This attempt provided "Replace Last Filter' and 'Distort Clip".

Yes, you are obviously on the right screen. But have you clicked on the button indicated by the red arrow in this photo after you dragged and dropped Video Pan and Zoom onto the clip?
VS PanZoom03.jpg
If you apply multiple filters to the same clip, and want their multiple effects, you have to untick the 'Replace Last Filter' box. And ticking 'Distort Clip' speaks for itself. But so does 'Customize Filter'... :!:

OK. Now I *am* a bit confused. Are you using X6 or X3? If the latter, what happens when you press the Customize button? If X6, then Pan and Zoom is as described above and you still have to press the Customize button.

How are you getting to that screen Yallambie - what steps do you take to get there

I do not have X3 but even going back to X2 the procedure is much the same as Ken has been describing

below is a screen shot from X2 - can you not get to a similar screen ?

I need to use X6. I have used the pan and zoom once since I purchased it six weeks ago. Now I cannot return to the pan and zoom window.

The X3 view was to indicate my need and to ensure that we were talking about the same function because nothing shows on my X6 now that has been described.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi Yallambie

There are two options in using Pan and Zoom one is by using a FX filter (Video Pan and Zoom)

The other option is used for images only from the Options Panel

Place an image on the timeline

Double click the clip to show the Options Panel right of preview screen (also opens using the chevron symbols far right.)

Choose the Photo Tab should show the Pan & Zoom as your X3 image.

Can we please keep the conversation on the forum - why do we have to go to another website to see your answers.

What is in the timeline in the first image there - it does not look like a single image - is it a video or multiple single images - you cannot use the right click option there - only on one single photo at a time.

When you click on "FX" with the dropdown showing "All" do you not see the panel in my image below - what you have shown on your website is just a list of FX libraries - not the library pane with the effects in.

Scroll down the library pane to find the "Video Pan and Zoom" filter
click on the image to enlarge it
