Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install
We need to get Corel to supply a "VS Cleanup" program. I have had problems before with very frustrating failures that don't help the user to fix. I had to manually go through the Registry, something that is not for everyone to do, and remove all references to the Corel program that I was having troubles installing and running. Only after doing this tedious and potentially damaging procedure, did the program install and run correctly. It appears that sometimes there are Registry entries left from a prior attempted installation that failed which causes future attempts at installing to never work correctly... Al

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install
I have asked Corel if such a tool is being developed or already available...

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install
I’ve now run the excellent Process Monitor suggested by queman, and it does indeed record the installation process.
However, in the few seconds from I start the installation of Videostudio X7 until the installation fails, the Process Monitor records roughly 25,000 incidents. Of these 20,000 are successfully executed which leaves me with 5,000 potential culprits. Not exactly my idea of a leisure pursuit.
I did notice that a large number of the 5,000 incidents referred (path/filename)to the wow64 subsystem; so could it be that it’s the transition to 64-bit that is causing the installation of Videostudio X7 to fail?

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install
Hi guys
Corel have provided a Cleanup file for X7.
The file has not been used before so I guess you are confirming that it does actually work.
First delete the Setup folder from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 Setup Files
Run the Cleanup file…attached below
Then run the installation file again as Administrator
Your feedback would be appreciated………
I hope this does help.

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install
I just tested the cleanup file.
Sorry to say, but the installation of Videostudio X7 still stops within a few seconds after attempting to run setup as administrator.

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install
Hi Vspx7
I know this is a daft question but you did download the trial 32 bit version and not the 64bit.
Not sure what would happen if you tried installing 64 bit, I would have assumed the program simply would not install at all.

Hi
@ BrianCee - Darn … If only I were on Facebook
@ lata - Yes I’ve tried both the 32-bit and 64-bit version. I’m working from a 64-bit PC.

You might consider changing that - more and more companies seem to be moving in that direction - and people contacting Corel via that route do seem to be getting answers.
Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install
Oh, I have considered and rejected it.
Anyway, I had a friend check the Corel Facebook, and apparently the issue has already been raised on March 6th - so far with no reply from Corel.

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install
Hi everyone!
Thank you for your help.
I tried the new profile route, i tried the cleanup file, i tried to rename the installation folder.
I definitely can't install VideoStudio Pro X7 x64 and i don't have a clue why...
Let's wait for a reply from Corel.

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install
nif65's message is similar to the one I was getting. I was successful after going through the tedious and precarious search and destroy of the Registry entries. Therefore I conclude the Cleanup program provided is not removing all the Registry entries... Al
