OpenCL for graphics cards are supported by both AMD and Nvidia. To just have CUDA leaves a lot of AMD card users out, and that is wrong. As for it being finicky, Adobe CS is implementing it in their software, so is Vegas Pro, Autodesk Maya, DaVinci Resolve, Eyeon Fusion, Apple's FCP, etc..

I would still like to see multicam w/sync added to VSP.

1. The ability to group different elements in the overlay tracks so it can be moved, copied etc. at once. Ulead had a group / ungroup function.
2. When copying more than one selected element from different timelines, the paste put them all next to each other and then have to be reshuffled manually again. The copy /past should keep the structure of the copied elements.

On a more simplified note, I second the call for more pro (or semi pro) looking effects.
Fx and a dead easy workflow in video editing is what made me a fan of the VideoStudio Ultimate X series.
I skipped X7 Ultimate though, as it had less title effects missing the very good new blue titler.

As for specific new features:
FLAC and 24/32bit wav audio support!
As for bugfixing, project files tend to crash when switching fps rates (on X6).
It seems random so I can't figure out a way to replicate these things,
I would advise taking a long look at your code ;)

regards.

Jumo has missed the point, Video Studio is not a high end video program, if you want those features then you should be looking at Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Sony Vegas Pro and the like. How much are you prepared to pay, VS is one of the best programs available in its price range and has many standard inclusions which are not available in other comparable priced video editors and to include those type of features would increase the price to much for the average video editor, just look at the way that CyberLinks Power Director is increasing in price.

I agree with Robert. I would say that 90% of users have no need of the features that jumu listed. VS is an entry level program even if Corel considers it a "Pro" version. I think most of us just want to create simple videos of our photos or camcorders clips without too many "gimmicks". After all, do you want to show someone elses fancy effects or do you want to show your pictures and videos.
I certainly would not pay extras to have any of the features jumu wants.

I guess it was asked before ,
but how come that we are on VS ver. 17 and on "list view" on the media folder there is no "length", "FPS" or "dimensions" on clips or photos. This shouldn't take a good programer more than 2 hours of work.
** Adding a comment to a clip will be nice, but that will take additional 2 hours of work...

- After learning a bit about NB Titler, I believe it should be back to VS instead of Boris. While Boris is more advanced, it is not intuitive and complex (and I have 25 years of Online video editing) NB Titler is more simple and within the VS level of users.

If you want Titler EX included with VSX7, then you should complain to New Blue direct, as many VSX7 users have, the more users that complain, the sooner New Blue will get off their backside and produce 64 bit versions of New Blue filters for Corel, they must have the ability seeing that they have 64 bit versions of the filters included with VSX7

I have to agree. I have said in the past that I have bought NewBlue's Video Essentials packages I through to VI. They work on my 32 bit versions of Video Studio, but exactly the same packages also work on my 64 bit versions of Cyberlink PowerDirector and Sony Movie Studio Platinum, but not on the 64 bit version of Video Studio. In other words, NewBlue has obviously adapted them for Cyberlink and Sony, but not for Corel. One would have thought it would not be a terribly difficulty job to do so!

I have noticed that the latest New Blue Essential Package V11 does NOT list Corel VS as a compatible program (not even the 32 bit version), hope this is not an ominous sign of things to come

Ken,
PowerDirector just released ver13.
I considered it few months ago and tried ver12. I don't recall now why I didn't liked it, maybe because of a very limited trial version to my taste and I decided finely to go with VSX7 (As I knew VSX4 very well).
Regarding NB, I think it's all matter of agreements and pay. The NB plugins for VS Ultimate are not the full NB versions, I wonder how are they in compare to what PowerDirector and sony are adding to their "ultimates".
If you report that the standard NB 32bit plugins you have work just as good with 64bit PowerDirector and sony than I wonder what type of rendering is truly going on there when NB filters are used?

Bear in mind that I bought the stand-alone versions of all six of the Video Essentials packages. I confess I have not noticed any difference in their operation compared to that of the plug-ins which come with Video Studio -- apart, of course, from what Robert and I have already said about a 64 bit version of the stand-alone packages which will work with VS. (And Robert, I was on the brink of buying Essentials VII when I received a special offer from NB a couple of days ago, but then, like you, noticed that Corel was not even mentioned... I agree, a worrying sign...)

But the point I was making -- or trying to make -- when I referred to Cyberlink and Sony 64 bit versions, was that when I bought Essentials I - VI, I bought them essentially for VS. It just so happened that I had both Cyberlink and Movie Studio (and Magix) on the same computer, and when I started installing the NB packages, they had installation routines which automatically detected both Cyberlink and Sony, as well as Corel, and installed the filters correctly for 64 bit operation in those other programs. And I have used them in 64 bit in those programs and they work fine -- and using the same control panels as in the 32 bit version. In other words, it is clear that NB have written 64 bit versions of their Essentials packages which work just fine in either the 32 or 64 bit versions of Cyberlink and Sony, but only 32 bit for Corel. It would seem to me pretty clear that either they have just not gotten around to writing 64 bit code for Corel, or else Corel is refusing to pay some sort of licensing fee to them to do so...

wish we had the ability to copy from one project file to another... ie if I had a group of images and effects etc, I would want to copy and paste that same content into another project ( and then I could substitute the images and maintain the exact same timing etc)

also -- the above is similar to the ability to create custom templates -- this would work too in the same manner and might even be easier. Wish I could mark in and mark out at specific points in the timeline and render that area as a template for future use. Currently you can create templates but it has to be your whole timeline... I want pieces of my timeline that I like and could save myself so much editing time if I could reuse the sequence.

lastly the ability to leave a gap on the main video track ... I tend to use this track less and just fill in a lot with black clips and edit on the overlay tracks as it makes cutting chunks of your project away so much easier.. and or adding new pieces.

How about the "de riguere" video codec these days of: H.265/HEVC

Actually, I'd mainly hope to see H.265 included into VSProX8 to keep it current with VSProX7 (which an update patch had been previously incorporated)
