Given the predicament the only solution I see of now is shoot a few extra seconds which I normally do to save the agony.
The video below was made in PD using minimum transition except for slides at the end which was made using PD's templates where transitions get inserted automatically.

Hi babdi,

Yes I normally do that, the problem is when using Rotopen or Routegen to trace your route on a map, the video stops as soon as the destination is reached, I suppose that I could extend the route to allow the end to be trimmed, so that the end destination is reached before the transition starts, it would be so much easier if we had the option of where to place the transition.

The solution is take a snapshot of the last frame and extend its time line so that transition time is accounted for.
In the video in my last post I used power point and increased its duration sufficiently.

I've only been using Video Studio for a few days, but would like to make this suggestion with regards to the Library Panel. A check box option to hide clips that have been placed on the story board or time line would be very helpful. When creating a slide show of several hundred images, it would simplify not duplicating them. I use an online photo book creator called Picaboo that includes this function. You can, of course "uncheck" it to see all the items in your library if you do wish to include one multiple times.

FX filters drop down box

When an item is clicked in the drop down box, the filters for that item display, however this only applies for the first 20 items, as I now have 24 items, the last four do not display, meaning that it is necessary to search through the "All" category to find the specific filter I need.
Would like to see in X8, all packages that show in the drop down box display the contents only for that package, irrespective of how many packages are included in FX filters

If I understand your problem Robert - you currently have two solutions to your problem :-

1. make the icons in the library smaller by moving the small slider up in the top right corner of each library pane

2. scroll the library up/down using the small scroll bar at the extreme right edge of the library pane

If I do No.1 I can get 44 filters on view in the standard layout library pane.

Sorry Brian, that's not what I mean, when you click on the Fx Icon a drop down box opens showing all the categories of filters and when you click on a specific category, then only those filters show as library thumbnails. However, this can only be done for the first 20 items in the list, if you click on item 21 in the list for example, nothing happens, those filters do not display. To find the filters that are included in item 21 it is necessary to search through all the filters under the "All"category.

Stop treating audio like an illegitimate child. Throwing together a few 3rd party filters that preview only the first few seconds of an audio clip is just not acceptable, feels like Corel just doen't care. Look at the competition. SONY, Cyberlink, & Magix all have up-to-date comprehensive, user-friendly, proprietary apps for audio tracks that allow you to edit entire tracks in real time...Corel does not. The least Corel could do in X8 would be to include a pointer to an external audio editor as it looks like they have no desire to develop their own - it's been the same deficient audio filter since X4, maybe earlier, who knows.

I'd like to see check marks automatically appear on the item (video clip, photo, music, etc.) thumbnail (within the library) that have been used in the presentation so it can be easily tracked what is available to be used. I understand this request has been made over the years...not sure why Corel isn't considering? Seems foundational.

I would like to be able to work with my GoPro files in native resolutions and framerates...

Most important for me:

1920x1440x48P

Input works fine, but I cannot output that resolution in X7... Or did I miss something? Using trial version now...

Thanks,
- Oliver

I have never used any of the less normal frame formats on my own Hero 3 Black -- and 1920 x 1440 at 48p is not strictly "normal", particularly if you are intending to make a Blu-Ray disc. That would entail as change to the frame size to the normal 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720. And it would probably also need to change the 48p to 50p (PAL) or 60p (NTSC) or even 24p.

However, that being said, X7 allows you two things which may help in your situation. First, in Preferences > General, tick the box beside "Show message when inserting first video clip". Then when you insert the first clip into the timeline, you should get a message asking if you want to match the Project Properties to those of the clip. If you say yes, then the Project Properties should include both 1920 x 1440 and 48p. This in turn will allow you, when you finish editing your project, to select Share > Create Video File > Same As Project Properties.

Second, even if you don't go the way of the previous paragraph, another innovation in X7 is to allow you to use Share > Create Video File > Same As First Clip. In previous versions, this worked mainly only with standard definition video and only one or two flavours of high definition. But it should now work with your video.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your input. I will answer it in the other thread, I don't think this belongs in this thread.

Just the short version: It won't work like you suggested. I think, this may be a bug.

Thanks,

I’m new to Video studio but in the several hours that I’ve been using it I would like to be able to have folders within my current folder. This sure would help out to keep things nice and tidy specially when working with many files coming from several cameras like I’m doing.
