Currently, the import window opens the lastest directory where content was read from which is usually not where projects are saved. I never can remember where projects are saved so this wastes time. Ideally, the default for various types of files could be set up in User Preferences. There could even be a preference button for "use latest" or "use default" directory when opening windows directories in search of projects, content, etc.
Hi

I generally create a working folder for each project, the folder getting a suitable name.
This folder contains all my video files and VSP project files for that project.
I have a separate drive for my video editing, so know where they are?

If you select File, the last 4 used projects are showing at the bottom of the list, I suppose a quick launch option.

But yes I do understand what you mean, file open project should open the last VSP location, that would make more sense.

Corel do not issue release dates in advance - so we do not know

all I can say is that the last two new versions were released around the beginning of March - so they *may* do the same with X8 - we will know soon

When you put the mouse over a video thumbnail in the library, play that video in the thumbnail view. This would be similar to how transitions play in the library when you put the mouse over them (assuming you have Media Library Animations turned off in your preferences).

My wish is more than 4 audio tracks to use. I create stop motion videos which Video Studio supports, but just for 4 audio tracks are not enough. You need one for the dialogs, one for background music, so there are just 2 left. Sometimes so much happens in the video at the same time that you quickly run out of audio tracks. My workaround is currently to convert background music to a video file with plain background and to insert it with green screen keying, so it does not appear later in the video. But that is awkward.

I do not know why Video has this restriction. In my opinion, it would be far better to have a flexible selection of the track type, e. g. when you insert a new track, you can configure that it is for audio or video. Done. Why is this not implemented yet? I really do not understand it.

NUMBER ONE wish is fixing the edges of imported transparent PNG or PSD files

It appears VS puts a small drop shadow - or an edge line to the images

Example: take a square - fill it a colour - delete half to transparent - save as PNG - import on top of movie - YUCK!

* try the same thing in VideoPad Editor - a small quick video editing program - it fades the pngss/ psds properly

OTHER

- crop - please make a normal crop - without beginning and end sections - just CROP
- Hue and sat - please make a normal - without beginning and end sections - just overall hue/sat
same for brightness and contrast - overall B&C (you could have an "Advanced" button that lets you specify a hue or crop that changes through the movie ..but seriously... if you want to do crop or Hue on a video - 99% of the time youd want it on the whole thing.

(side note - there are also arbitrary settings here in the defaults. example Brightness and contrast opens at 50% brightness (ya id want that - not) and the end setting of video B&C is different.. who would use this? - one setting for crop / hue / B&C - or "Advanced" to change from one end to other))

- Please add the option to pick more than just one background colour to make see through ( like the eye dropper in Photoshops colour range - that lets you be more specific in choosing the colours to knock out)

- The motion tracking is great - now please add "people tracking - where i can loosley trace around a person in a video - and it will mark that whole area clipping path and follow the person with it - so for example a walking person could be clipped and tracked and copied into another background

THANKS!!!

oh yes i forgot one

STOP with the pop up error messages... or Are you sure you want.... errors

or you go to track duration and and want to change 20 seconds - to 30 seconds - but you make a typo - and it puts up an error... i know i made a typo - just display an error if i LEAVE it

everything you go to do - it asks you if you want to do it - YES i want to do what i just told the program do.

oh yes and one more thing
in the match motion editing window it is too small

i have to turn on windows magnifier to be able to edit the tracking path / see what im doing
please make this window expandable / zoomable

and also the bright blue and green lines that show the path - obscure the video - sometimes you cant even see the face you are trying to adjust motion on

please add a button to show/hide the motion paths coloured lines (when editing tracking)

THANKS!

Give us full control of our export settings
-------------------------------------------------

Allow for quick and easy configuration of exports including Resolution, Bit Rate and FPS (Frames Per Second). These settings should not be hidden so deep in "templates" and such. Any time I export to WMV or MP4, for example, I should be able to choose if I want a custom export with say constant bit rate of 10k, 1920x1080 at 60fps. If I want to do a quick quality compare and choose 8k instead of 10k for instance, I should not have to try to find a way to make a template. Just let me pick what I want without jumping through hoops.

Also, when you let us make those settings, let us export them as a template, quick and easy.

Here is something a competing but low-end program provides, as an example:
Attachments
This is directly from the FILE > EXPORT WINDOWS MEDIA menu option
This is directly from the FILE > EXPORT WINDOWS MEDIA menu option
This is the dialog you get when you clock the ADVANCED button from the dialog above

Why not one more!!

The possibility of rendering only a section and not only the full project each time.
Something like render between 00:00 to 02:50. Like this on a big project you can see the result of a part of your project without having to render the complete project each time.

That can already be done with any version of VS

quick one - when i take a video on my 1080p windows phone in portrait mode VS opens it sideways

windows media player opens them portrait as does VideoPad editor (an amazing little program) but VS doesnt

Hitting rotate makes it small in widescreen window - so i work sideways and when im done have to bring it in to videopad to make it portrait with no side borders

please add this mode - thanks

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

just to recap all of above: Broken PNG transparency fixed, crop-hue-brightness as one simple setting (not a beginning to end) - real tracking of moving things (like trace around someone's head and it continues following that area to cut out) larger motion editing window - with ability to zoom and hide colour paths, portrait mode, and less error messages.

if you did that this program would rock even more than it already does!

Having just purchased VideoStudio X7 Ultimate and only having played with it an hour or so the only obvioous think at this point on my wish list is multi cam editing with auto audio sync.

By multicam editing I mean something better than Cyberlinks Power Directo13's method. While it has the automatic audio sync I want in VideoStudio it does not have a "live" method of viewing all of the multicams simultaneously in a preview window to select your shots from.

I know there is a way to do mullticam editing on the current version of VideoStudio (I have watched Bob's Youtube video) but having to manually sync audio is time consuming and you can't view the multiple cameras simultaneously.

Having said all of that the VideoStudio X7 ultimate is an amazing piece of software for the price!

Use of CUDA or NVENC (or both) for NVidia cards and GPU rendering - still didn't happen in X8.
