Chatted with an agent last night enquiring if x7 is available to order in box -
advisor believed that box won't happen this time, download only.
the advisor suggested that i buy the download option and have a back up disk...the advisor wasn't sure if the backup disk was included in the upgrade price but if i ordered and took out download insurance i could have the backup free !
i didn't bother to order in the end. if there is to be no box edition i'll try other software.
maybe i'm old fashioned wanting a box version lol

As I understand it at the moment VideoStudio X7 is currently released as a download only.
but the full release does not take place for another week and at that time boxed versions will become available.
Amazon UK are taking advanced orders for boxed versions.

I was told a couple of weeks ago that the official full release date was going to be March 14, 2014. Perhaps the full box set will be included as well.

If I download the trial version, can't I download it on a disk as a back-up?

Why would you want the trial version on a disk - you can download it at any time from the Corel website - it will only work for 30 days in total any rate.
But if you download the full version then by all means copy the programme to discs for future back-up

Not everybody has the luxury of fast optical based broadband Brian. I for one rely on 4 miles of good old copper which has disasterous results on downloads. Mind you, I would not swap London for where I live. Did you know, Snowdon has a nice cap of snow on it this morning.

Of course you can burn the downloaded trial version to a DVD. You can of course also copy it to one of your hard drives for backup.

Time will tell of course, but the "Best Buy" web site in the States gives the impression that they will be selling Corel VS X7 Ultimate on a DVD in a box, not a download. Likewise for "Amazon.com" in the States.
Best Buy states that they will take only pre-orders until 3/16, but Amazon.com implies they already have stock on hand ("5 left in stock (more on the way)" and they will ship the box overnight upon payment of express shipping today: "Want it Friday, March 14?
