Everything worked fine until I went to output my video file. I've encountered two issues.
First:
If I select "SHARE-> CREATE VIDEO FILE -> SAME AS FIRST VIDEO CLIP" When it converts, I get one of two messages depending on the avi file I'm working with (I've tried a bunch). I either get:
"Unable to access the audio codec driver" [17103:9:3] And the rendering fails; it never even begins. Or I get:
"Unable to compress the audio [17103:10:5]" And the file plays back but without sound.
Second:
If I select "SHARE-> CREATE VIDEO FILE -> CUSTOM" and select the exact specifications (file type, frame rate, frame size, XVID MPEG-4 video video compression, and MPEG Layer-3 audio audio compression) as the original file, then it renders fine, but upon playing the file back, the audio is "choppy". Like a constant hiccup during the entire audio playback (video plays back fine). In fact, no matter what audio format I choose (MPEG Layer-3, MPEG Audio Layer2, MPEG Audio Layer3, PCM) I get the same "choppy" sound in playback.
A weird thing though...if I change the frame rate from 29.97 fps to 30 fps on a custom save (leaving everything else the same as the original specifications), the audio is no longer choppy and it plays back fine, but the file size becomes huge (262 MB at 30 fps as opposed to 180 MB at 29.97) The original two files together total at 183 MB so the 262 is a big jump.
I've read lots of other posts on this forum about similar issues but I've not been able to solve my problem. A lot of people are saying it's a codec issue, and it very well may be, but like I said, if I open the same avi file as described above, and do a custom save using PCM as the audio format for output, I get the same "choppy" audio in playback. So it doesn't seem to be specifically an issue with MPEG Layer-3 audio codecs.
Another strange thing: if I open an mp4 file, for example:

and do a custom save with the following specifications:
Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 624 x 352, 29 fps
Frame-based
Xvid MPEG-4 Codec
MPEG Layer-3, 128 kBit/s, 48.000 Hz, Stereo
the file renders fine. So again, I can save files using the MPEG Layer-3 codec and have the audio play back fine.
So then I was thinking maybe this is just an issue with all these files I'm using. So I tried editing video files that I recently edited with my old Ulead VS 8.0 on my old computer (Windows XP). I opened the following file:

I selected only the first minute of this file and tried saving it using the "SAME AS FIRST VIDEO CLIP" option, but I got the "Unable to compress the audio [17103:10:5]" error.
When I tried to save it using custom options (regardless of what audio format), I got the choppy audio. And again, this was a file I personally edited with Ulead VS 8.0 just a couple weeks ago on my old computer with Windows XP. So I know the files aren't corrupt or anything. There has got to be some issue with the codecs I'm using or something. But I can't figure it out. Please help!
I should also say that all the original files play fine in windows media player as well as vlc media player. I do have xvid and mp3 codecs installed and they work fine in all other regards. The only issue is with output videos using vs x2 pro. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
