Every time I close the program, a message box appears showing photo hints such as Sunset photos and others. There is a close box that doesn't activate. I have to use Task Manager to close the message. I did get instructions about removing these messages but the instructions show an icon of Corel Guide that I cannot find on the program page. In other words, I cannot follow their directions as the icon doesn't exist and I would like to stop these messages from appearing or if they do appear, why doesn't their close boxes function nor does the bit "X" in upper right hand corner. I'm disgusted at how Corel doesn't provide any help unless you pay to speak to someone. I can't even send them an Email stating the problem. Before Corel took over Paint Shop Pro, a person could get help with their programs. What has happened with the company???

Re: Unremoveable messages in Paintshop Pro5
It may be that the messages have been corrupted and so are not displaying a close box. You can find the Messages at
Win 7 C: > Program Data > Corel > Messages.
XP C:\Documents and Settings\*username*\Application Data\Corel\Messages
Program Data is a hidden folder so you may need to show hidden folders to be able to find this Place Folder Options in your Windows 7 search box and it will tell you to go to control panel . In Folder Options dialog box click on View and then about 8 lines down tick the radio button 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
in Xp with any any windows folder open clck on Tools > Folder Options > View and again about 8 lines down tick the radio button that says 'Show hidden files and folders'
Someone else may be able to give you the location in Vista and Windows 8 / 8.1
Once you find the Messages folder open it and you will find the messages in subfolders with labels like 540244831_017002
You can delete all these inside the messages folder. If unsure change the name from Messages to NoMessages and observe what happens.
So long as your computer is connected to the internet when you start and close Corel PSP, it will retrieve and build up new message folders and the adds will start to reappear.
