X6 and Scanner

Post by marierd »

Just installed Paint Shop Pro X6, 64 and 32 bits.
When using the 64 bits X6 show no scanner available.
Version 32 bits finds the Epson scanner 64 bits version.
I downloaded the latest 64 bits update for my Epson scanner and
installed it twice.
Still Paint Shop Pro X6 64 bits shows no scanner available.
Do we have a solution for this issue?

You can use WIA to use your scanner. File -> Import -> From Scanner or Camera.

If you prefer to use TWAIN then....

Not really a solution but VueScan comes with a plugin that allows you to use the vuescan software to capture scans in 64-bit software like PSP and Photoshop.

Photoshop, for example, does not include 64-bit TWAIN functionality. So VueScan created this plugin specifically so that the 64-bit software could be called within Photoshop.

--------
Most scanners, even though they have drivers for 64-bit Windows, are not actually 64-bit drivers themselves. In other words 64-bit software would not be able to read it. Of course with what I've seen so far PSP is broken when it comes to 64-bit TWAIN.

The way to know for sure if your drivers are 64-bit drivers, or just 64-bit Windows compatible is to download and install Twacker.

http://www.twain.org/scannerdriverdevel ... tools.html

Twacker 64-bit will list all 64-bit scanners it finds. If it doesn't find your scanner, then PSP will not be able to find it even if it does work. If Twacker does find your scanner, then should PSP get fixed it will be able to find your scanner. And we are hoping this bug will be acknowledged and fixed.

Yes, even with the latest Epson driver 64-bit
Twacker 64-bit did not recognize the Epson
4490 scanner to be 64-bit.
My next step is (as mentioned earlier in this post)
is to import or to use the 32-bit Paint Shop X6.
I have tried both and it is working.
At this time I am looking at replacing my old
scanner with an Epson V600.
The specifications do not mention anything
about 32 or 64-bit.
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply to
my post. I appreciate the information
