Hello all, I recently purchased a Canon EOS Rebel SL1. My intention was to use the stop motion and direct recording features within Videostudio. Problem is it detects the camera is plugged in by showing the Canon DSLR Plugin. But when I try to use it it doesnt actually connect the the camera. I know the camera can perform these tasks as it works with other software.
Is there anything special that needs to be done so it will work with VideoStudio? Or is it simply not supported device?

Re: Videostudio X6 and Canon DSLR
Hi & welcome to the forums Prezus,
Sorry for the response delay. Unfortunately I don't have VS X6 installed, so I'm not sure of the UI in the Stop-Motion capture. I do know that the stop-motion for VS X5 does not work as you're trying to use it. It does work with VS X7, which I'm going to assume would be the same as X6.
Once plugged in, you should see the ability to change a lot of your camera settings, such as aperture, shutter speed, WB, ect. You should also be able to see an image in the preview screen in VS.
Try a couple of different methods, to see if VS will finally see your camera. Try plugging your camera into your PC, then launch VS, go to the capture module. Then turn on your camera, give it a few seconds for your PC to recognize it. Then press the Stop-Motion icon to open it's screen. Does the program now see your camera, and are you able to control it from VS?
You might also try having VS open to the Stop Motion screen, then plug your camera in and see if VS recognizes it.
FWIW, I tried this with my Canon T4i, and your SL1 should not be any different.
