No audio .mts file?

Post by dhpriest »

I loaded some .mts files that I took with my sony camera, and when I go to review/play it, it plays the video but no audio. Do I need a plugin? I am running x6 ultimate. Windows 7 home premium 64bit, 16gb ddr3, Intel i7-4770.

Could you please put one of your videos in the timeline - RIGHT click over it and from the pop up choose 'properties' - take a screen shot of those properties box and add it to your next post - thank you.

No, there is no reason at all why you are not getting the audio. That file is bog standard AVCHD, and the Dolby codec comes as part of VS so it should play. Given that the files use the .mts extension, I am assuming you imported them to VS directly from your camcorder. If you play one of the files in a media player on your computer, do you get the audio?

Can I also assume that under Settings in VS the box beside 'Enable 50/60p editing' is ticked?

I hear the audio when I play it with windows media player, but not when I play it with vlc media player. Cyberlink power director also plays the audio no problem. I did not import these with VS.

Is there not anyone who has heard of this problem, or is this a very rare thing not hearing audio from an .mts file in VS X6? VS is the only program that will not play the audio. VLC does, I just had the volume muted. I have the Sony DSC-Rx100 camera which I take hd video. I would like to think that VS will be able to handle my video editing needs moving into the hd world. I uninstalled and reinstalled VS, with same problem. Please help!!

I figured it out. Under Settings, there is an option to enable 5.1 Surround. When I checked it, bingo...I have audio!
