Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
Hi,
I've tried a lot of things, can't solve this (I'm using Video Studio 6 Pro. Windows Vista computer, 4 GB RAM). I have a video with original music (wav file), it is about 3 min 12 seconds long. At the end of the video I end up with a white screen instead of the last frame of the video.
I've made sure the audio and video tracjs are the same length (to the best of my ability), I've tried going into options and specifying an exact length of time the video should run, and I've even shaved a number of seconds off the entire video just to see if that would do anything, I've tried different resolutions, different video formats. I still end up with a white screen at the end. I searched this forum, (not every search result) but could not find a solution. Can anyone refer me to a prior post, or does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Love the product: Video Studio 6 Pro, making the video was user friendly, great features, love the high quality result, I just can't end it correctly.
Thank you.
John

Have you changed the background colour of the preview screen to white ?
What do you see if you make the video end 1 second BEFORE the audio end - what do you see then ?
Please expand your timeline to maximum - get the end of your project into view on your screen then take and post a screen shot like mine below - perhaps we can see what's going on.

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
Thank you for looking into this.
What do you see if you make the video end 1 second BEFORE the audio end - what do you see then ?
If I end the video 1 second before the audio, the screen is black for the final second. (That's within the editing environment without saving the change or exporting to a video format.)
If I leave things the way they are, it looks like the audio and video are matched up, and I do have the final screen that I want (i.e. the colored lights that are out of focus) when I'm still within the editing environment. It's when I export to a video format e.g. mp4 that I get the white screen as the final frame.
Thank you,
John

So only after you have made a video - not while in the 'Edit' mode - that is strange.
How are you viewing your video - have you viewed the actual video in VideoStudio does it happen there - what about Windows Media player ? - Quicktime ? - do you have any other players you could try - Roxio ? etc.

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
Ok, I tried a couple of experiments:
If I play the video (which is an mpeg4) in Quick Time or Real Player I get the white screen at the end of the video. I have a Windows Media Player that does not support mpeg4 so I couldn't try it. I have the video saved as mpeg4 because I've heard that's the best quality for YouTube (I don't know).
If I import the finalized mpeg4 video back into Corel and put it in the library, it does not end with a white screen. It ends correctly. Same thing if I import it back into a timeline, it ends as intended.
Is there something I should be doing with a keyframe on the last frame maybe?
Thanks,
John

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
The only thing I can suggest at the moment is that you put a black block of about 1 second duration at the end - but I don't know if that will cure it because I don't know where the white frame at the end is coming from.
Please could you try this - - Go to "Settings >> Preferences" and about 1/3 of the way down is a drop down labelled "Clip Display Mode" change that drop down to "Thumbnail only" - click OK and you will go back to the timeline viewing images of your video - now expand the timeline using the slider or + and - signs above the right hand end to a maximum - you are now looking at individual frames - is there a white frame on the end ??

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
This is kind of interesting; The last frame is not white or blank, however, there is something that seems amiss. (I've included a screenshot) The video stops exactly one frame short at the end. But if I cut that last frame, then the audio file will be longer than the video portion and I'm guessing that will cause a problem. Since we're only talking about a fraction of a second, I don't mind if the audio is one frame longer, I just don't know if the software will allow it.
Not sure why the video would stop one frame short when there is still "one frame" of audio left. If I drag the scrubber one more frame, it seems that the end of the video is supposed to be 3:12.15 not where it's currently stopping at 3:12.14.
thank you.

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
This is all very strange and I don't know what is going on.
There is no problem in the audio ending after the video the programme will run to the end of the last item in the timeline even if it is just audio.
if you want it to look tidy then just slide a black block down from the color library and set it to one second or less to finish on.

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
I went to cut the last frame but I'm unable to select it individually, I can only grab the last four. They appear to be a group. Maybe the formatting or effects are getting carried over from frame to frame since they are from a clip that I had put lighting effects on. Anyway shuould I try to break them apart or should I attempt to re-do each frame individually and repaste the last four frames one at a time? See attached jpg.
thanks.
thanks.

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
Can you drag that white pointer in the ruler (in the photo, sitting above the left hand yellow line of that last clip). If so, move it right till it sits over the last dotted line/frame (not the right hand yellow line). Then click the scissors icon to the bottom right of the preview screen. That should (theoretically) split that final clip at that point, and then you can select that last frame and delete it.

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
The scissors are greyed out if I go to the dotted line on the last frame, but I am able to split the 4 frames down the middle. So just to experiment I deleted the last two frames. It then ended with a black frame, it did not maintain the last frame until the end of the audio track.
Then, when I replayed the video, it again stopped at 3:12.14 instead of 3:12.15. I wonder if there is something in the wav file causing this? Another time when I played it, it stopped at 3:12.10
thank you.

I just noticed that last clip has a track motion icon on it - what are you tracking there - - is there something in the track motion customise window which is causing the problem - have you checked key frames etc in the track motion customise window.
and as well as the smart proxy icon what is that other icon in the top left corner - have you applied one of the FX filters to that clip - is that causing the problem ?

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
I'm not tracking anything in this particular section, but this clip is from another clip I used where I think I was tracking something. When I've tried to remove tracking in the past on individual clips, it seems to affect all of the clips associated with it including the original where I do want the tracking, so I've felt kind of forced to leave it in everywhere. I also have color correction (reducing the brightness) and also slow motion. I would be hesitant to try to adjust key frames because I don't have a lot of experience and it took me hours of trial and error to get the motion just right (even though I don't actually know what I did.)
I have to admit, even if it is one of the above, I don't really know how to fix it. I guess I could open another session remove all the fx from these clips, cut it up where appropriate then import into this video and see what happens. Do you think that might help?
thank you.

Re: Blank White Screen at End of Video with Audio
I managed to remove motion tracking in a separate new project. I then trimmed and imported the clip. (As a side note: motion tracking had appeared throughout almost all of the entire original clip, even when I trimmed the larger original clip, the smaller clips retained the motion tracking icon and paths in the tracking window.)
I added slow motion to match it up with audio track. Then saved it as mpeg4 but still get the white screen. In the editing environment it still ends one frame short. It won't let me clip the last frame. If I clip the next to last frame the track then expands to 3:12.15 but keeps ending at 3:12.14.
thanks

There is something very strange going on here if after you trim the video to 3:12 :14 it then expands itself back to 3:12:15 - how can a video change length on it's own ?
I have suggested a number of times that you put a black block of 1 second or so duration at the end of the video - have you tried that - what happens then ?
