"John, the products simply have not been updated for 64-bit Corel or 64-bit Magix.
That response from NB is of course not quite accurate. The 64 bit version of VS X7 Ultimate comes with quite a good variety of NB effects from various of the Essentials packages, and they work. Which means NB have in fact adapted those specific effects to work with VS 64 bit -- probably under a paid licensing agreement with Corel. So I would hardly think it is rocket science to expect that the remainder of the Essentials packages could be tweaked to work in a 64 bit environment, since they have already been tweaked to work with 64 bit PowerDirector and Movie Studio... So it seems to me there must be some underlying reason why they are not doing so -- or at least with any speed -- and I suspect that it too might have something to do with financial arrangements with Corel, or rather, the lack thereof!!

Agree with Ken entirely, New Blue already have the source codes developed for the filters included with VSX7, so where is the issue with the other Packages, maybe Corel intend to shift their allegiances to another provider for VSX8, Pixelan would be a very good alternative, although at the moment Pixelan filter packages are not available for Corel, but who knows what the future holds

I wanted to revisit this and get back to ROBERT --- I successfully installed all 5 of my new blue fx packages after removing 64 bit X7 and installing 32 Bit X7 --- my thumbnails are not "blacked out" at all as was the case for Robert and they all seem to be functioning perfectly. Unfortunately, they still have not resolved the issue with expanding the drop down list of transition effects -- it seems as if there was just room to add one more to the list, so the first one that I installed "new blue art blends" automatically got it's own category on the list and the rest of the packages were dumped in the "all" window. Everyone except Checker B -- not sure why... it's still under the pre-installed new blue from Corel, but not in the "All" window. I think this is because this effect was in one of my packages and I didn't realize it would overwrite the previously installed version, so I had to re-download the new blue from the bonus pack. No big deal, I'm just happy they are all there.

hopefully, Corel and new blue will come to an agreement on getting the 64bit transitions to work properly! They are so useful!

And of course, the wish list for future versions should include this, as well as an unlimited number of categories of transition fx! so stupid to limit....

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate? VS8 ultimate

just wanted to revisit this issue and see whether anything had been resolved regarding new blue fx and VS8... I am getting ready to upgrade from VS7 to VS8 and wanted to see whether I could install 64 bit version... and if so would the new blue fx work?? I want to avoid the issues I had with VS7 install... for those unfamiliar with the problem, the details are in this thread. I called Corel support today but they weren't very helpful on this matter... same old 'pass the buck" story -- corel blames new blue and new blue blames corel for the incompatibility.

Hi Ilene,

First, going back to your earlier post, in VSX8 the drop down box does appear to have been expanded, I have 23 folders showing, whereas VSX7 was limited to 21 folders.

The 64 bit versions of New Blue do install correctly in VSX8 and function perfectly, just make sure that you do have the 64 bit versions, refer the following post for download links

wow this is excellent news and thank you for that link...

do you know if the 64bit plugins overwrite the 32 bit ones?? I have everything running in vs7 with 32bit perfectly and I don't want to upset that apple cart in case I run into any issues...

If I install VS8 as 64bit I would want to keep that installation separate.......... I still have ys6 on my computer and sometimes revert back to that... I like to have back ups........

Amazing that the folks at corel support had no answer for this... thank you to everyone who presses new blue to come up w a solution. they don't even list video studio on their website anymore as an application that works with their effects!

That's right. They have now dropped Corel and other companies and are concentrating on the more professional end of the market. So make sure you keep a copy of the existing filters, and don't expect any updates from NewBlue...

The 64 bit version of New Blue will install into C:\Program Files, whereas the 32bit version is installed into C:\Program Files(X86) so you can have both versions installed as I have
and both versions can be used within their respective program. When installing the 64 bit version make sure you have Corel Video Studio 64 bit ticked, leave all the other listed programs blank
