NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
Just installed the VS7 Ultimate, now I am trying to install my purchased NewBlue products to it but, as expected, they only see my VS6 install, when I try to "Add A Path" there does not seem to be a vft_plugin or VFX_plugin folder?
I do however see the following:
Corel VideoStudio Pro X7 (which has a Setup folder in it)
Corel VideoStudio Pro X7 Setup Files
Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 Setup Files
so...just where is the new X7 "program" files? All these seem to by just 'set up' folders and files...?
Please if anyone knows if the current NewBlue plugins will work in VS7 let me know how you did it!!

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
First off, did you install the 64 bit version of X7? If so, then the folders you mentioned are in the Program Files (x86) folder. The main 64 bit program files are in the Program Files folder (where all 64 bit programs go).
Second, unfortunately I have not so far been able to get my own NewBlue Video Essentials packages I through VI to install in X7 64 bit as they don't appear to be 64 bit filters. So until Corel and NewBlue work something out in this regard, we are stuck with the NewBlue filters included with X7. If you look at the latter in the vft_plugin/vfx_plug-in folders, the NB filters there all have 64 included in their titles, whereas my Essentials packages don't. I tried just copying them from my (32 bit) X6 folders, but needless to say that did not work either.

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
To further clarify what Ken has said, you need to make a choice, do you install the 64 bit version to take advantage of what 64 bit has to offer, but bare in mind that any VSX6 .vsp projects that you try to import into the 64 bit version of VSX7 will not work if they include 32 bit New Blue filters. Or, at this stage install the 32 bit version and wait until such time as New Blue have 64 bit installers available for all their packages. When I contacted New Blue, there response was "this is on our list of things to do, but at this time we do not have a completion date"
So, the more users that chase New Blue for 64 bit installers, the quicker we may get them

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
BrianCee,
I had the same question. I opened up a chat session with Corel sales and was informed if you have purchased X6 within 30 days, you will receive an Email with a pre-release offer for X7. Additionally, since I have not made a purchase in the last 30 days, they offered to send me a pre-configured shopping cart with X7 in it. According to the salesperson, the price is not any different than will be offered on the March 5th release (This has now been proven FALSE).

All,
OK, I just received the aforementioned pre-configured cart for X7 -- Apparently, the sales person was misinformed. The price is $10 less than the release (upgrade) price (at least in the cart sent to me).

Hi,
I received the same email and offer for $79 Canadian dollars, and expires March 4. I could send the offer to anyone who wants it ... Just let me know.
I have been told that the actual X7 product launch date is March 14...

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
If it can help: 64-bit version of ALL the NB packages are available for free.
It is just needed to upgrade them to version 3.0, from the NB effect help menu.
Note that it is not mandatory to buy the 64-bit GPU acceleration: if upgraded to version 3.0, the effect will be 64-bit and it still work.
Said that, the question is: did anybody tried to upgrade the 32-bit NB effect to the 3.0 version (64-bit) and then check whether they are recognized by VS X7 ?
I am also interested to know whether VS X7 extended the maximum number of plug-ins, which, in the previous versions, was limited to a maximum number (quite low...)
Cheers

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
I have version 3.0 of six NB Video Essentials packages ( I - VI), and they don't install in VS X7 64 bit. They *do* install in my 64 bit versions of Cyberlink Power Director and Sony Movie Studio Platinum. I think the main problem is not with the plug-ins themselves, but with the NB installer, which is not set to recognise a 64 bit Corel product, and I think that it is the installer which NewBlue will have to update before we can get full 64 bit functionality out of our plug-ins -- apart from the 64 bit NB filters which come as part of the X7 Ultimate package.
As for the other Ultimate plug-ins, I think they are the same as they were in X6. But all still quite useful.

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
I'm always a little behind with the upgrades..... because they always cause so much stress, I'm reluctant to upgrade until I really have the time to deal with it... alas, today I upgraded to 64 bidtversion of VSx7 and discovered that all my new blue fx transition packages ( except for those pre-loaded with the program) wouldn't work... I own 5 transition packages that are great... 3d explosions, 3d transforms, art blends, motion and paint blends. I first called Corel for support and they surmised that these effects would not work with 64 bit system.......... I then emailed new blue and got a response back that confirmed this. The new blue fx do not work with corel 64 bit but "they would add my name to their queue and let me know as soon as they fixed the problem" -- I guess they are waiting for enough interest to get to it...
For me, I think I will roll back. I will uninstall 64 bit VS7 and install 32 bit VS7. Corel support told me the only difference I would notice is the rendering time. I think there are enough new features ( overlay transitions!!! yay!) that warrant the upgrade but I will very much miss the new blue fx and therefore will settle on the 32 bit upgrade.
any suggestion or issues that anyone has encountered upon uninstalling 64bit version and then installing 32bit version --- I want to be sure that everything in VS6 stays untouched -- just in case I need to revert back to it at any point. advice appreciated... not looking for further aggravation
thank goodness I checked the transition fx first before I started importing all my libraries and getting everything else set up --- it's always such a chore! I have huge libraries of backgrounds, video backrounds, and fx that I use...)
thanks

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
Well, New Blue have been working on a 64 bit version for Corel for nearly a year and todate, no progress has been made, so don't hold your breath for a fix soon.
I originally installed the 64 bit version, then uninstalled and installed the 32 bit version, same reason New Blue.
Copy the vft plugin and vfx plugin folders from VSX6 to your desktop and any other folders you wish to keep. Then uninstall VSX6, install the 32 bit version of VSX7, then copy back the VSX6 folders into VSX7. It will be interesting to know, after you have reinstalled all the New Blue Packages back into VSX7, if the New Blue thumbnails in the library are black, mine are, but they do all function correctly.
Of course, there is no requirement to uninstall VSX6 unless you want to, both X6 and X7 can be installed, then all you need to do is to copy the VX6 folders into VS7, but remember you can only have one version open at a time

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
Corel X7 64 bit is the problem.. These plugins work on 64 bit programs...
Here's the reply(s) from New Blue..
"Vegas, Edius, Premiere, Avid, FCPX - all available in 64-bit
Corel, Magix - 32-bit only
' - "John, the products simply have not been updated for 64-bit Corel or 64-bit Magix. I cannot say when that will happen. It's not a matter of the plugins themselves being 64-bit - as you can see, they already are on other platforms. It's a matter of the interface between Corel and Magix being updated."

Re: NewBlue plugins into VS7 Ultimate?
thanks for all that great information... I wish I had thought to check here before I went through the process of installing the 64 bit version. I had asked corel support about using these effects and of course they hadn't indicated that they would be a problem... I had asked lot of questions and the only thing they had really told me was that my "custom motions" that I had created and saved wouldn't be able to be imported into 64 bit and I would have to bring them in manually ( ie create a project file in 6 using all my motion paths and then open that file in 7 and copy them back into a 7 library... such a drag) Now that I will revert back to 32 bit maybe I'll be able to just import them... ( I have so many motion paths saved!)
as for uninstalling 64bit V7 -- is it just through "add /remove programs" on control panel?? seems simple... but with corel it's always complicated!
will hope that new blue and corel get their act together on the fx... maybe will have to wait for V8 for that!
thanks
