Skew Pattern fill within in a selection
Is there a way to skew or transform a pattern fill within a selection. I have a flower fabric pattern which I'm trying to use to fill in a bellowing cape. I am not looking at the cape straight on but in profile so I do not want the pattern to be straight on but to be able to skew it such that its perspective is that the flowers are laying down. I found a tutorial in Photoshop to create the selection and then create a mask layer, fill the mask layer with the pattern and then use then transform it and skew it with in the layer by adjusting the corner nodes individually but the pattern will only show through the masked area created when the mask was generated from the selection. However I cannot see how to do something similar in Paintshop. I created a new mask layer from a selection on the profile of the cape I want fill with the pattern but when I go to apply the pattern fill it will only fill in the masked area and I can use the selection tool but it will skew the masked area only. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Skew Pattern fill within in a selection
I've made a video to help because I'm pretty sure I'll be explaining this poorly. But I don't have my editing software so hopefull Youtube is done with it once you see this.

If you already have your selection made, I'm going to have you save the selection to the alpha channel of the image.
Next we're going to create your pattern layer.
You can now edit the pattern layer freely and the mask should hold just fine.
----------------
I want to point out that I did it this way because this lets you apply blend modes to the pattern layer to merge it with the cape layer underneath should you choose to do so. There is, however, another way you can do this. But I don't want to confuse the matter.

If you already have your selection made, I'm going to have you save the selection to the alpha channel of the image.
We don't want any selections active for this next part1) Selections -> Load/Save Selection -> Save Selection to Alpha Channel
2) Give it a name and hit Save
3) Selections -> Deselect
Next we're going to create your pattern layer.
If you saved a selection to the alpha channel you can go ahead and reload it, or if you did not yet have your selection made, go ahead and make it now.1) Create a new Raster Layer
2) Select the pattern you want to use in the Materials Palette
3) Use the Fill tool to fill the entire layer with the pattern.
Make sure you have your pattern layer selected in the layers palette. We're going to create our mask layer.1) Selections -> Load/Save Selection -> Load Selection From Alpha Channel
Go ahead and deselect your selection now. We no longer need it.1) Layers -> New Mask Layer -> Show selection
You should now have your cape layer on the bottom, and a group layer above that. Inside the group will be your pattern layer underneath your mask layer.1) Selections -> Deselect
You can now edit the pattern layer freely and the mask should hold just fine.

Re: Skew Pattern fill within in a selection
I want to thank you that was just what I was looking for. I kind of thought I was missing some steps.
