Convert Selection to Path

Post by dcadint »

Is there a way to convert a selection to a vector shape with paths? On Photoshop I can switch to the paths pallet and select make work path from the paths menu to convert a selection to a vector path can't seem to find something similar in Corel PaintShop Pro

There is nothing similar in PaintShop Pro, no.

I can think of a way to do it but it would be quite absurd....and involve a second program.

What you would do is take a selection and convert it to a mask. THen select the entire mask layer and float the selection. FInally you would convert the selection to a raster image. You'd save the image and open it in the vector tracer inside of Inkscape or similar but Inkscape is free. Export that to a file with the WMF format. Open that into PSP and then copy the resulting vector back into your image.

But no direct option to convert a selection into a vector path, no.

Yeah, it's not so easy.

Depends on your needs. If possible try to create path from beginning if possible insteed do selection.

Some complicated selection transformed into path (with many points...) shall be hard or impossible to edit.

So as LeviFiction suggest ...trace and simplify. That's the way, for now.

NOTE: I do not say it is impossible to do in PSP with Scripting but for now little uncomfort. Because lack of simplify option. But if someone can play with least square root algorithm ...this can be the way.
