Couple smart proxy questions again...

Post by sealilly »

I do enjoy smart proxy, it really speeds up my editing.

Is there anywhere or anyhow I can set it so the ONLY time it creates a smart proxy file is when I right click the clip? Sometimes I may add clips that I will not be editing so I dont need them proxied. It seems anytime I add a clip to the timeline with proxy turned on, it will create a new proxy file for the clip automatically. With that question asked, I think I can only utilize smart proxy if its "turned on" even after a proxy file is created?

I would be happy to create my proxy files, then unclick to turn it of, if I can then continue using the files that it created

As far as I can see - if in preferences >> performance - you enable smart proxy but set the "Create proxy file when video size is above" drop down box to the actual size of your video a proxy is not created automatically but you can right click on a video in the timeline and choose "Create smart proxy file"

Haven't checked it out extensively but a quick test suggests that works.
