Post by itty »

I need help trying to figure out how on earth to run this version. I have never used it before, and it will start to think, but then just quit. I have tried to change the compatibility as i am running win xp.

Any suggestions???

I don't know the release date of version 5 but it may well have been a long time before WinXP was even thought of and if it's an SE version it will have some functions disabled. I would suggest it's time for an upgrade -we're now at version 9 and it's a vast improvement over V5 - you are entitled to the reduced priced upgrade - so go for it NOW.

i actually got it working. all i had to do was hook up my camcorder and it recognized my software. I won't go for version 9 until i have familiarized and learned version 5.

Unfortunately, waiting until you learn VS5 fully before you move to VS9 will not help you much, apart from making you more familiar with the process of video editing in very general terms. VS5 looks and feels quite a bit different from VS9, and has quite a number of very different tools. In my humble opinion, it would probably be better to dive straight into the program that you would ultimately mostly use i.e. VS9.

Well, I don't plan on doing anything too technical with it just yet. I havent got the time for it right now. But when i jump into a new program, it has never taken me longer than a week to learn it front to back. I don't think I'll have any problems learning this one, then upgrading my skills with version 9.
