G'Day!
I notice in Windows 8.1 the format in which my images are saved is not displayed on the ribbon, as it was in other versions. The name of the image and percent are displayed [Image 105@ 100% (Raster 1)]
Given that it is saved as a raster indicates it is a Jpg or png image, but it was so handy to tell have the format displayed.. Is this a setting I can change?

Re: In Which Format Are My Images Saved?
I don't have my kids computer going so I don't have Win8 with me right now but here's something I found on the web.
http://blog.laptopmag.com/show-file-extensions1. Launch Control Panel. In Windows 8 / 8.1, you can get by hitting Windows + X and selecting from the menu that appears.
2. Open Folder Options. If you don’t see the Folder Options icon right away, you can find it by typing Folder Options into the search box at the upper right corner of the control panel window.
3. Select the View tab.
4. Toggle “Hide extensions for known file types” to off. We also recommend changing Hiden files and folders to “Show hidden files, folders and drives” so you can access all of Windows’ system folders.
5. Click Ok. Now, any time you browse your file system, you will see all file extensions.
Regards, Dan

Re: In Which Format Are My Images Saved?
Normal behavior is:
1) If you create a new image by File/New, or Paste as new image, or Window duplicate, the image gets the name ImageX @yyy% (Raster z). X is a number 1 to ???, incremented during your PSP session, yyy% is percent magnification, and raster 1 is the name of the active layer (even flat files have a layer
2) If you Save a new image named ImageX (or Save as...) PSP asks for a name and file type and the name on top changes to name.ext @yyy% (raster z). If you use 'Save copy...' the name on top does not change but the new name and file type are saved.
2a) If you open an existing image the bar should show name.ext. 'Save' then doesn't open a dialogue to name and select file type, it just saves that format and name.
3) If you open an existing image the name on top is name.ext etc.
So my question is: are you sure you're talking about existing images not showing extensions, or did you, like often happens to me, need some sleep?
