video editing

Post by ottersea »

I am using X4 and am wondering if there is some way to edit a video in this version. I have a video that has a message at the bottom of the video that I would like to edit out. Is there some way of doing this?

Thanks.

The only practical way of doing that is to use the Crop filter -- which will of course mean you lose the bottom portion of your video.

I found the cropping filter but have not been able to figure out how it works. I click on it and it just puts a balloon in the preview window that expands out on all 4 sides. How does one get this into the video clip?

Put your video in the video track - drag the cropping filter from it's library pane down onto the video.

open the options panel by clicking on the blue "Options" tab which is just above the right hand end of the timeline

In the options panel click on "Customise Filter"

A new panel will open where you can set the size and position of the crop rectangle.

You need to set the beginning and end parameters by selecting the little red diamond on the timeline there - these signify "Key Frames" and you can add more if you wish so that the crop area can change size and position throughout your video if that is what you want .

Click to UN-check the box next to "Fill color" at the bottom - then click OK and you should see the result.
